St. John's High School is an Edmund Rice Educational Institute, founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1959. The school building was designed by prominent French architect Pierre Jeanneret. [1] It is located in Sector 26, Chandigarh. It has been consistently ranked as one of the best schools in the Tri-City area (Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula) for the years 2013, [2] [3] 2014, [4] and 2015. [5]
St. John's Old Boys Association (SJOBA) is an alumni association formed by the students who attended the school. It has around 3700 members. It is managed by an executive body chosen from within the community each year. SJOBA completed 30 years in 2009.
It organizes events such as blood donation camps. The year-end vocational counselling for students passing out is an annual tradition. It conducts the annual debate for students of the Senior Wing, an Annual Quiz, and sports events such as football and cricket matches between the school teams and a team of old boys.
SJOBA organises recreational events including the SJOBA Thunderbolt Rally [6] around March, the SJOBA Mini-marathon around November and the SJOBA Winter Fest in December, which includes the SJOBA Treasure Hunt, Cultural Evening (plays and musical nights) and the Winterball, which is the annual reunion organised by the alumni.
SJOBA mentors economically challenged students and contributes to the school in the form of sports facilities and financial aid. A wing of SJOBA called the SJOBA Foundation [7] offers scholarships to students who show promise in the fields of academics and sports.

Chandigarh is a union territory and planned city in northern India, serving as the shared capital of the surrounding states, namely Punjab to the north, west and the south, and Haryana to the east. Panjab University (PU) is an Indian collegiate public state university located in Chandigarh. Funded through both State and Union governments, it is considered a state university. It traces its origins to the University of the Punjab in Lahore, which was founded in 1882. After the partition of India, the university was established on 1 October 1947, and called East Punjab University. Initially housed primarily at a cantonment in Solan, it later relocated to a newly built campus in Chandigarh, and was renamed Panjab University. The Doon School is a selective all-boys private boarding school in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, which was established in 1935. It was envisioned by Satish Ranjan Das, a lawyer from Calcutta, as a school modelled on the British public school while remaining conscious of Indian ambitions and desires. Bishop Cotton School is a boys boarding school in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Chandigarh Metro is an approved rapid transit system in the Chandigarh Capital Region which includes Chandigarh city and adjacent areas in Punjab and Haryana states of India. In phase-1, to be progressively built & operationalised between 2027 to 2037, 3 lines will connect tri-cities of Chandigarh, Mohali in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana. Phase-2, to be constructed after 2037, will connect Pinjore in Haryana and further expand the network in Mohali. The project, which was initially scrapped in 2017 due to low financial viability, was later approved in March 2023 and received formal clearances in July 2023 from the governments of Punjab and Haryana after a detailed project plan (DPR) was created.
