St. Mary's South is a parliamentary constituency in the parish of Saint Mary, Antigua and Barbuda. A by-election was held in the constituency on 24 October 2023. [3]
St. Mary's South has three polling districts; "A", "B", and "C". [4] Polling District "A" includes Jolly Hill, Bolans, Christian Valley, Willocks, Roses, Orange Valley, Picarts, Ffryes, and Valley Church. On October 24, 2023, a by-election was conducted in the Antiguan seat of St. Mary's South in response to the resignation of Kelvin Simon, the sitting UPP member of parliament, due to challenges to his candidacy. It was Antigua and Barbuda's second election since Prime Minister Gaston Browne emerged victorious in the country's general election in 2023 with a narrow win.

Antigua and Barbuda's transport systems include both public and privately run services. Roads in the country are paved and follow a winding and gently sloping course connecting parishes to villages and communities. Driving is on the left-hand side. The speed limit is set at 40 mph, Traffic signs posted throughout main roads in Antigua and Barbuda allow for ease of commute, and with GPS coordinates posted throughout the country, the process of navigation has become even easier.
Saint Philip, officially the Parish of Saint Philip, is a civil parish of Antigua and Barbuda, on the easternmost portion of Antigua island. Its capital is the village of St. Philip's. Saint Philip borders Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Saint Philip faces the Atlantic Ocean. Saint Philip is surrounded by various islands and islets. It had a population of 3,347 in 2011, which makes it the least populous parish of Antigua and Barbuda.
Saint Mary, officially the Parish of Saint Mary, is a parish of Antigua and Barbuda on the island of Antigua. Saint Mary borders Saint John to the north, and Saint Paul to the east. Saint Mary is dominated by the Shekerley Mountains, and its northern border is largely defined by the mountains, and by Cooks Creek. The largest city in the parish is Bolans, home to the Jolly Harbour neighbourhood, and the parish church is located in Old Road. Saint Mary was created with the other five original parishes on 11 January 1692. It had a population of 7,341 in 2011, and 8,141 in 2018.
Bolans is a community on the south-western end of the island of Antigua, headtown of the Saint Mary's Parish. It was once an agrarian community but has slowly been transformed into a centre of tourist activity. There are those in the community who involve themselves in agricultural activity, more as an avenue of feeding themselves or adding some needed income. Bolans is home to the world-famous Jolly Beach Resort as well as Jolly Harbour Marina and Boatyard which provides a sheltered dockage with 24-hour security and a full-service boatyard. It had a population of 1,888 in 2001.
Old Road, officially known as the Town of Old Road, is a town located on a roadstead in the parish of Saint Mary, Antigua and Barbuda. It is overlooked by Boggy Peak, which lies to its northwest. Old Road was founded in the 1700s, and in the 1850s was still a tiny settlement of 96, smaller than its neighbour to the west, Urlings. Old Road has since grown to a population of 1,251 in 2011, and is now the tenth largest settlement in the country. Old Road is smaller than Willikies, but is larger than Montclear, Skyline, and Potters Village. Old Road is separated from the rest of Antigua by the Shekerley Mountains. The village is located on Andy Roberts Drive which to the east, merges onto Fig Tree Drive leading to John Hughes, and to the west, continues through Urlings, Crabs Hill, and Johnsons Point before merging onto Valley Road in Ffryes village.
Jolly Harbour is a township on Antigua island, in Antigua and Barbuda.
Urlings is a village in Saint Mary, and the twenty-sixth largest settlement in Antigua and Barbuda. Urlings is located in the southwest of Antigua and has a history dating to before 1856. Urlings started as a small coastal village with a little over 100 people in the 1800s to now being one of the country's more medium sized towns. Urlings is separated from the rest of Antigua by the Shekerley Mountains. Urlings is located between the communities of Johnsons Point and Old Road. Urlings has a seafood festival, a community association, a primary school, a playing field, a fisheries complex, and a cricket club that plays in the Village Parish League.
General elections were held in Antigua and Barbuda on 18 January 2023 to elect members of the House of Representatives. The Labour Party (ABLP) has held an absolute majority of 15 seats in the House of Representatives after the 2018 general election, with Gaston Browne remaining as prime minister. Browne initiated a constitutional referendum after the 2018 election, which was rejected by voters, and following the death of Elizabeth II in 2022, he announced his intention to organise a referendum for the transition of Antigua and Barbuda to a republican system. Besides ABLP, the United Progressive Party (UPP), Democratic National Alliance, Barbuda People's Movement (BPM), and three independent politicians filed candidacies for the 2023 general election.
All Saints West is a parliamentary constituency in Saint John, Saint Mary, and Saint Peter, Antigua and Barbuda. It is composed of the villages of Sea View Farm, Freemans, Clarkes Hill, Buckleys, St. Claire, Bellevue Heights, and the western portions of All Saints.
St. John's Rural South, also called Rural South is a parliamentary constituency located in Saint John, Antigua and Barbuda. The constituency is currently represented by Daryll Matthew.
