The album peaked at number 2 on the Top Jazz Albums and number 74 on the Billboard 200. The album's title Vocalese refers to a style of music that sets lyrics to previously recorded jazz instrumental pieces. The vocals then reproduce the sound and feel of the original instrumentation. Jon Hendricks, proficient in this art, composed all of the lyrics for this album.

My Everything is the sixth studio album by American singer Anita Baker. It was released by Blue Note Records on September 7, 2004 in the United States. It was Baker's first album for the label and her first album of new material in ten years. For her comeback album, Baker wanted to be "in control" of everything, and once again teamed up with Barry J. Eastmond and George Duke. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds also contributed. Baker wrote or co-wrote eight of the album's ten tracks. The last track, "Men in My Life" was written for her then-husband and two sons.

It includes contributions by numerous guest musicians, including Sly and Robbie, David Byrne, Herbie Hancock, Keith Richards, Vernon Reid, and Phoebe Snow. P-Funk bandmates Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Gary Cooper, Doug Duffey, and Michael Hampton also contributed.
Pieces of Woo: The Other Side is an album by the former Parliament-Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell. It was released by CMP Records in 1993. None of the tracks contain drums or percussion. Pieces of Woo features Fred Wesley, Buckethead, and Umar Bin Hassan.
P Is the Funk is the second installment of the George Clinton Family Series collection. The album was released in 1992 by P-Vine Records in Japan, and then was released later in the same year by AEM Records in the United States and Sequel Records in the United Kingdom. The album contains notable tracks such as the first song ever recorded by the Brides of Funkenstein entitled "Love Is Something" featuring P-Funk lead guitarist Eddie Hazel, as well radio commercials for the Ultra Wave album by Bootsy Collins.

The album was released in Japan in 1993 by P-Vine Records, and later in the same year by AEM Records in the United States and Sequel Records in the United Kingdom. The compilation's producer and P-Funk leader George Clinton gives his final thoughts about the tracks on the album, as well as his feelings on the entire Family Series project, for A Fifth of Funk's final track. The title is a play on words of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, as well as Walter Murphy's 1976 disco hit "A Fifth of Beethoven".

Let It Beat is the second studio album by American rapper Shwayze. It was first announced by Cisco Adler on February 4, 2009, via his Myspace page. He also confirmed the song "Make A Lil Love" in that blog post. A few days later he posted another blog update, which confirmed the track "Livin' It Up," It also confirmed guest appearances from The Knux, and Tabi Bonney. On May 8, 2009 Cisco announced that the album is entitled Let It Beat, and was currently being mixed and mastered. Although Shwayze's previous debut album only had one guest appearance, this album has guest appearances from The Knux, Tabi Bonney, and Snoop Dogg. Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains plays bass on a track called "Crazy For You," and Ric Ocasek of The Cars plays guitar on the same track. Roy Bittan the pianist of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band plays piano on the track Heart and Soul. The first single, "Get U Home" was released on June 28.
