Stapleton is an independent rock band who come from Glasgow. They formed in April 1997 and have released four albums and two EPs. They have to date played over 300 shows. They have released records on a number of independent record labels and are presently signed to Xtra Mile Recordings in the UK and This Time Records in Japan. The band consist of Andrew Cook (Guitar & Vocals), Gordon Farquhar (Drums & Percussion), Alistair Paxton (Vocals & Guitar) and Nico Weststeijn (Bass).

Stapleton first came to prominence in the Glasgow DIY music scene of the late nineties, playing early shows alongside bands such as Karate, Bluetip, Dismemberment Plan and Les Savy Fav. They were an integral and ubiquitous part of a supportive and diverse independent Scottish music scene that also included bands such as Laeto, Sawyer, Idlewild, Aereogramme and Biffy Clyro.

The turn of the millennium brought an increase in touring for Stapleton, as well as a first full release; 'Rebuild The Pier' [1] on the English label Year 3 Thousand Records. Recorded at the Brill Building, Glasgow over two days by Richie Dempsey, Rebuild The Pier was critically acclaimed by national press [2] and has retrospectively been regarded as a pioneering, landmark record by many bands and individuals. [3] [4] The 2001 follow up, 'On The Enjoyment of Unpleasant Places', [5] achieved a similar status on its release through the legendary English label Subjugation Records. [6] Initial pressings of the record sold very quickly and, indeed, it remained out of print until a repackaged version (including the Icy You EP) was released in 2004. [7] 2002 saw the release of two EPs by Stapleton; firstly, the 'Icy You' EP, made up of songs from the 'On The Enjoyment' sessions, and secondly, the 'Chez Chef' EP, [8] recorded in London by Pat Collier and Larry Hibbitt. Stapleton toured prolifically around this time, supporting high-profile peers such as Idlewild, Snow Patrol and Hundred Reasons, as well as highly regarded independent touring bands like Lungfish, Weakerthans, Q and not U, Pedro The Lion, Tristeza and Burning Airlines. It was through a Glasgow show with Burning Airlines that Stapleton became involved with the esteemed musician and engineer J. Robbins.

May 2005 saw Stapleton record their third album, 'Hug The Coast', in Robbins' Baltimore studio, The Magpie Cage. Hug The Coast [9] was released in late 2005 on Gravity Records and contained artwork by Grammy nominated artist Jesse LeDoux. Following considerable touring, Stapleton chose to go on hiatus in Summer of 2006, though only after recording a fourth album 'Rest and be Thankful' with their friend and live engineer Robin Sutherland. Rest and be Thankful [10] was released in May 2008 on Xtra Mile Recordings, and was supported by a short UK tour. [11]

Though they are presently on hiatus, [12] members of Stapleton are active with other bands. These include Metronomes, Happy Particles, Avast! and Elements of the Seventies.

Reuben were an English three-piece musical group from Camberley, Surrey. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single "Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single "Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. The band performed in the UK underground music scene. Although they attracted a significant fanbase, Reuben never achieved mainstream success, but did chart four songs in the UK Singles Chart. Their highest charting single was 2004's "Freddy Kreuger", that reached UK No. 53.

Adequate Seven were a Welsh band who blended music styles such as hip hop, hardcore, punk, and funk. They formed in 2000 and split in December 2006.

Chris T-T Musical artist

Chris T-T is a retired English singer-songwriter based in Brighton. In a 20-year career he released 10 studio albums, two live collections and a number of collaborations. He is also a speaker, piano accompanist, activist and radio presenter, and he has written for a range of publications. For several years he contributed a weekly column on the arts to the left-wing newspaper The Morning Star. T-T's most recent album is Best Of Chris T-T, a career retrospective double-CD released on 19 May 2017 by London-based independent label Xtra Mile Recordings.

Xtra Mile Recordings are a British independent record label based in London, England. The label was founded in 2003 by Charlie Caplowe and they release an eclectic mix of genres with a focus on rock and folk.

Fastlane were an English rock band, that emerged from the Surrey rock scene in 1997.

Instruction were an alternative rock band that formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, New York. The band consisted of lead vocalist Arthur Shepherd, bassist Adam Marino, lead guitarist Tom Capone and drummer Ti Kreck.

Dartz! were a Math rock group from Middlesbrough, England, who formed at the beginning of 2005. They are signed to Xtra Mile Recordings in the UK and Deep Elm in the US, and released one full-length album, one mini-album, three singles and a split 7-inch via Xtra Mile, as well as an EP on Sunderland based DIY micro-label Fakedream Records, and a split 10-inch with Scottish band Stapleton on Gravity DIP.

Pendleton (band)

Pendleton was an English four-piece skate punk band from Manchester, England. They were formed in 2000 and went through several incarnations before becoming Pendleton in 2002 when several of the band members met at the University of Salford. They were signed to Angry Penguin Records in the US, and Bells On Records in Europe and Japan.

Tellison is an English four-piece indie rock band from London, England, formed in 2000. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Stephen Davidson, guitarist and vocalist Peter Phillips, bass guitarist and vocalist Andrew Tickell and drummer Henry Danowski.

Banquet Records became fully independent in 2002, formerly part of the Beggars Banquet Records retail chain. The record shop is based in Kingston upon Thames, Greater London. It stocks a broad range of music on both vinyl and CD. The establishment is also home to Gravity DIP music management, as well as the Banquet Records record label.

No Motiv is a punk rock band from Oxnard, California. The most recent version of the line up as of their 2019 performances includes Jeremy Palaszewski on lead vocals/guitar, Max McDonald on guitar/vocals, Roger Camero on bass/vocals, and Pat Pedraza on drums. For the recording of the LOLA EP, Daylight Breaking, and Winterlong, Roger Camero moved from bass to drums after drummer Pat Pedraza left the band to join alternative rock band From Satellite. The group has not released a full album since Winterlong in 2011, though they did release a remastered edition of And the Sadness Prevails... and a 2-track EP in 2019. Throughout the band's many years of activity and lineup changes, they have also formed several notable side projects. The group is part of the second generation of Nardcore.

Gnarwolves were a British punk rock band, formed in 2011 and based in Brighton, England. The band consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Thom Weeks, bass guitarist and backing vocalist Charlie Piper, and drummer Max Weeks.

Rob Lynch is a teacher and a former English singer-songwriter, formerly known as Lost On Campus. He began releasing music under the moniker Lost On Campus and went on to release three EPs before reverting to his birth name. On 3 October 2011, he debuted his first record released under his own name which was entitled Rob Lynch, followed by No Blood on 21 December 2012. His debut album, All These Nights in Bars Will Somehow Save My Soul, was released on 22 September 2014 through Xtra Mile Recordings.

The LaFontaines are a rock band from Motherwell, Scotland. Their line up consists of Kerr Okan (vocals), Jamie Keenan and Darren McCaughey. The band was formed in 2008 and have released three studio albums: Class, Common Problem, and Junior.

Question The Mark are a Welsh punkrock band from Cardiff, Wales.
