Star 200 is a Polish truck produced in 1976-1994 by FSC Star in Starachowice, Poland.
The first prototypes of the Star 200 car were created at the turn of 1964-1965. They were first shown to the public in 1966. Problems with implementing production (in the centrally managed economy of the Polish People's Republic there was a constant lack of funds for investments) resulted in the creation of transitional models Star 28 (with a diesel engine) and Star 29 (with a petrol engine) based on the drive systems from the Star 25 and Star 27 models. They used some of the components developed for the Star 200 model, the production of which had already been mastered. [1]
The new, wagon-like driver's cabin, permanently mounted above the engine, provided good working conditions for the driver in the first period of production (in the 1980s, tilting cabins became standard, which were not introduced until the Star 1142 model). It was richly glazed, the driver had good visibility through the panoramic windscreen without a center pillar. The cabin was designed domestically, but the French company Chausson was used to develop the equipment and technology for serial production. The cabin doors open forward, the driver's and passenger seats have longitudinal adjustment (without shock absorption). The cabin was equipped with heating and ventilation devices and was better soundproofed. The cargo box was steel with a wooden floor, it was possible to transport loads weighing up to 6,000 kg. The curb weight of the car is 4,200 kg. The Star 200 can tow a trailer with a total weight of up to 8,500 kg. [2] 6-cylinder in-line engine of the Star S359 type (in later versions the modernized Star S359M engine, a naturally aspirated diesel engine with direct injection, developed in cooperation with the Austrian AVL institute. The engine block was initially cast from aluminum (supplier from Hungary), later on, blocks cast from cast iron in Poland were used (unfortunately much heavier but more durable). The forged crankshaft is mounted in 7 bearings, the aluminum pistons contain internal toroidal swirl combustion chambers, and the engine head consists of three two-cylinder segments made of special cast iron. The new fuel pump and injectors were supplied by WSK Mielec. Sometimes the Stara 200 was also equipped with the SW-400 engine (so-called small Leyland) with a capacity of 6540 cm³ and power of 115 HP, which was manufactured in the Andoria plants under license from the English company Leyland Motors. This engine It was slightly weaker than the S359, but it gained popularity due to its greater durability and lower fuel consumption, as well as quieter operation. The power to total vehicle weight ratio — 14.1 HP/ton — matched the truck designs of the time. The gearbox manufactured by FPS Tczew under the license of the German company ZF, type: AK5 - 45, has 5 non-synchronized (in later years in the S5-45 gearbox - synchronized) forward gears, plus reverse gear. A new single-stage drive axle manufactured by FSC Star. The vehicle uses hydraulic drum brakes on both axles, dual-circuit, with pneumatic assistance. The modern pneumatic installation was based on elements manufactured by Polmo Praszka under the license of Westinghouse. The breakthrough was the use of polyamide pneumatic lines instead of steel ones (often rusting and cracking) used in previous models. The suspension of the vehicle, in addition to the longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs, consisted of additional rubber shock absorbers, and on the front axle also FA Krosno telescopic shock absorbers manufactured under Armstrong license. The Star 200 consumed approximately 18-19 l of diesel fuel per 100 km at a speed of 85-90 km/h. The production of Star cars took place on modernized machines, imported from Italy, among others. Considerable sums were allocated for the modernization of the entire FSC in Starachowice. The Star 200 was therefore manufactured in large series (as for trucks) and using modern methods. A version with 4-wheel drive was also created (Star 244), and the engine and modernized (synchronized) gearbox were successfully used in the construction of a modern military off-road vehicle (Star 266). In 1986, production of the very thoroughly modernized Star 1142 model began, although the Star 200 was produced for another eight years, being by then an outdated design. [3]

The Star 200 underwent modernisation during its production period resulting from operational experience, including the redesigned/reinforced bearing of the differential pinion, and a whole range of changes involving the introduction of elements from its successor, the Star 1142 model, which was being prepared for production, including in 1986 the front of the cabin (engine covers) was modified, a deeper embossed cabin roof was introduced, new front wheel covers with mudguards, in 1982 shortened cabin doors with new seals and lower external handles (from the Polski Fiat 126) and new panoramic external mirrors, a new set of clocks, new seats and black plastic upholstery of the cabin interior (instead of the previously used fibreboard) and anti-slip floor coverings in black were introduced. Also in 1982. 3 wiper arms instead of 2 were used, which significantly increased the surface area cleaned by them, and the flap protecting the radiator fluid filler cap was eliminated, and the archaic air intakes above the windscreen were removed. The wiring and electrical system (based on technologies from FSO Polonez but in the 24 V version) and the pneumatic system (three separate compressed air tanks instead of one multi-chamber tank) were modernized. The fuel tank mount was redesigned, reducing its weight and eliminating the problem of tank corrosion that often appeared in the old solution. Similarly to the Star 1142 model, the previously used solution of the chassis frame base with variable height of the "C" profile was changed to one with the same height along the entire length. In the Star 200 version with a wheelbase extended to 3900 mm, the so-called Star 200L, a cargo box with lighter sides and removable pillars was used, as well as a side mount for the spare wheel from the 1142 model.
A truck or lorry is a motor vehicle designed to transport freight, carry specialized payloads, or perform other utilitarian work. Trucks vary greatly in size, power, and configuration, but the vast majority feature body-on-frame construction, with a cabin that is independent of the payload portion of the vehicle. Smaller varieties may be mechanically similar to some automobiles. Commercial trucks can be very large and powerful and may be configured to be mounted with specialized equipment, such as in the case of refuse trucks, fire trucks, concrete mixers, and suction excavators. In American English, a commercial vehicle without a trailer or other articulation is formally a "straight truck" while one designed specifically to pull a trailer is not a truck but a "tractor".
The Syrena was a Polish automobile model first exhibited at the Poznań Trade Fair in 1955 and manufactured from 1957 to 1972 by the Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych (FSO) in Warsaw and from 1972 until 1983 by Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych (FSM) in Bielsko-Biała. 177,234 were manufactured by FSO and 344,077 by FSM, a total of 521,311. During its remarkably long production run it underwent only minor modifications.

The vehicle was designed before the Second World War and mass-produced together with the all-wheel-drive version GAZ-63 after the end of the war. Avia Motors s.r.o. is a Czech automotive manufacturer. Founded in 1919 as an aircraft maker, it diversified into trucks after 1945. As an aircraft maker it was notable for producing biplane fighter aircraft, especially the B-534. Avia ceased aircraft production in 1963.
Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych "Star", also known simply as Star, was a Polish truck manufacturer. The name comes from the City of Starachowice, where the factory is located. Their first vehicle was the Star 20 in 1948. The most popular product was the Star 266. The 266 model offered very good quality and powerful engines for a low price. It was sold in various countries for many years. For many years, FSC Star was a state-owned company. Star is now owned by MAN AG who retired the brand in January 2009.
The Ural-375 is a general purpose 4.5 ton 6×6 truck produced at the Ural Automotive Plant in the Russian SFSR from 1961 to 1993. The Ural-375 replaced the ZIL-157 as the standard Soviet Army truck in 1979, and was replaced by the Ural-4320.
The FSC Lublin Automotive Factory commonly known as FSC, is a large motor vehicle factory in Poland established while the country was part of the Soviet Bloc. It was founded in 1950. The first vehicle left its assembly line on November 7, 1951. The factory was built on an open field in Lublin from the grounds up, to first produce light trucks and later vans, as well as vehicles for the military.
The TatraT813 was a truck produced in Czechoslovakia by the Tatra company. It was produced from 1967 to 1982. The basic representative of this series was a military version of the 8×8 Kolos (Colossus), which was able to pull trailers up to a total weight of 100 tons. Tatra also produced a civilian version in either 6×6 or 4×4. After fifteen years of production, 11,751 vehicles were built in all modifications. Many units were exported to the USSR, East Germany, Romania and India.

The Urals Automotive Plant, an Open Stock Company, is a major Russian manufacturer of off-road trucks under the Ural brand. Located in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk Oblast in the Ural Mountains. The plant was established in 1941; when the ZiS truck plant was evacuated from Moscow during World War II.
The ZIS-150 is a Soviet truck. In 1947 it replaced the ZIS-5 truck on the assembly line. Together with the GAZ-51, it was the main Soviet truck during the 1950s, judging by their quantity. A tractor-trailer version of the ZIS-150, the ZIS-120N was sold from 1956 to 1957. In 1957, the base ZIS-150 model was replaced by ZIL-164, which differed outwardly only by vertical grille bars and bumper.
The Tatra 138 was a truck produced in Czechoslovakia by the Tatra company. The immediate successor to the Tatra 111, the model introduced a number of new features while continuing the evolution of Tatra concept. The truck was produced from 1959 to 1971.
The Star 266 is a Polish 6x6 truck designed for transport of cargo and personnel. Created by Starachowice-based FSC Star, it was the basic transport truck used by the Polish Army. It was also available to civilian market. A successor to a highly successful Star 660 series of trucks, the Star 266 shared many components with earlier models, including Star 200 and Star 244 multi-purpose medium-capacity trucks.
The "New Generation“ is a series of trucks by Daimler-Benz built from 1973 to 1988. It was then replaced by the Mercedes-Benz SK series. With the "New Generation", Daimler-Benz expanded its market position in the medium and heavy truck segments. Its cab was also used by Mercedes-Benz of North America, who confusingly offered it with inline-six or -five engines as the LP series beginning in 1985.
FAP 1117 was the predecessor of the latest FAP military truck version, FAP 1118. This is an all-terrain vehicle developed by VTI and scheduled for production by FAP factory in Priboj. It was not introduced in serial production, being only prototype, while its lightly improved successor, FAP 1118 is in full serial production.
Sisu K-44 is a three-axle 4×4+2 driven lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle manufacturer Suomen Autoteollisuus (SAT) from 1959 to 1965. The most usual applications were for log transportation and earth moving vehicles. The K-44 was noted for its excellent gradient capabilities. The legally permissible maximum vehicle payload was between 7 800 and 11 750 kg: with a trailer this increased to 20 000 kg. The K-44s were powered by Leyland diesel engines with power outputs of between 85.8 and 156.7 kW.
The FSC Lublin-51 is a Polish small-capacity truck that was a licensed version of the Soviet GAZ-51. Production began on 7 November 1951 and ended in June 1959. The model was replaced by the Polish developed FSC Żuk delivery vehicle. A total of 17,479 examples of the FSC Lublin-51 were produced.
The Star 660 is a Polish 6x6 truck designed for transport of cargo and personnel. Created by Starachowice-based FSC Star, it was the basic transport truck used by the Polish People's Army.
