The Star Awards are awards for artistic and technical merit in the media organisation Mediacorp of Singapore where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year.
Star Awards 2005 was the 12th Star Awards ceremony, held on 4 December 2005. It was part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. Following MediaCorp's merger with SPH MediaWorks on 1 January 2005, the nominees included artistes from the former SPH MediaWorks Channel U, many of whom were former employees of MediaCorp and its predecessor Television Corporation of Singapore. MediaCorp TV Channel 8 broadcast the awards ceremony from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm while SPH MediaWorks Channel U, aired the ceremony for the first time and began broadcasting the ceremony at 7:30 pm.
Huang Biren is a Singaporean actress and television host. A five-time Star Awards for Best Actress winner, Huang is known for appearing in numerous MediaCorp Channel 8 television series. She was a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1988 to 2008.

The TVB Anniversary Awards, officially known as the TVB Awards Presentation, is an annual awards ceremony honoring TVB's programming achievements in Hong Kong television; despite claims that it is the region's equivalent to the American Emmy and the Australian Logie, no other networks are allowed to enter their programmes into TVB competition, and it is awarded solely to TVB programming. Winners are awarded a copy of the golden TVB anniversary statuette, which depicts a man and a woman holding up TVB's square logo. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by Mediacorp for the two free-to-air channels, Mediacorp Channel 8 and Mediacorp Channel U. Star Awards 2013 was broadcast live on Channel 8, on 21 April 2013 and 28 April 2013. The first ceremony was held at the Mediacorp TV Theatre while the second ceremony was held at the Marina Bay Sands. The ceremonies were also broadcast on 8 International and the second ceremony on Astro AEC & Astro Quan Jia HD for the first time in HD. As with the previous three years, viewers were able to catch the presentation of the Professional awards on Channel 8. The ceremony was aired live on 21 April, while the annual Star Awards prize presentation was aired on 28 April. A post-show was held after the awards ceremony on 28 April, which was broadcast on Channel U at 2200hrs.
