Stefan Drews (born 12 February 1979 in Hamburg) is a retired German decathlete. [1]
He finished 4th in the decathlon at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He finished 7th in the decathlon at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg.
He also competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he ranked 19th.

The decathlon is a combined event in athletics consisting of 10 track and field events. The word "decathlon" was formed, in analogy to the word "pentathlon", from Greek δέκα and ἄθλος. Events are held over two consecutive days and the winners are determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is judged on a points system in each event, not by the position achieved. The decathlon is contested mainly by male athletes, while female athletes typically compete in the heptathlon.

Originally a high jumper, he later switched to the combined events and is a former world record holder in the decathlon, holding the record for over eleven years. In 2001 in Götzis he became the first decathlete ever to achieve over 9,000 points, setting the record at 9,026 points, succeeding his compatriot, Tomáš Dvořák, who had scored 8,994 points two years earlier.

Claudio Escauriza is a Paraguayan athletics coach and former decathlete, who competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States of America and the 1st IAAF World Championships in 1983 in Helsinki, Finland. Escauriza represented Paraguay at several South American Championships, and also holds the Paraguayan national record in decathlon with a score of 6,943. He was the coach of Paraguayan Javelin Thrower Fabian Jara. Escauriza is the father of Paraguayan tennis player Lara Escauriza.
Pierce LePage is a Canadian track athlete who competes in the decathlon. He is the 2023 World champion, and the first Canadian to win the decathlon title at the World Athletics Championships. LePage is also the 2022 World silver medalist, 2018 Commonwealth silver medallist, and 2019 Pan American bronze medallist. LePage represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics, finishing in fifth place.
