Arnold Clas ("Classe") Robert Thunberg was a Finnish speed skater who won five Olympic gold medals – three at the inaugural Winter Olympics held in Chamonix in 1924 and two at the 1928 Winter Olympics held in St. Moritz. He was the most successful athlete at both of these Winter Olympics, sharing the honour for 1928 Winter Olympics with Johan Grøttumsbraaten of Norway. No other athlete ever won such a high fraction of all Olympic events at a single Games. He was born and died in Helsinki.
Ted-Jan Bloemen is a Dutch-Canadian long track speed skater. He started competing for the Canadian national speed skating team during the 2014–15 season, but before that, he competed for the Netherlands in international competitions. Bloemen primarily competes in long-distance events as well as team pursuit events. He is a former world record holder for the 5,000 m (6:01.86), set in Salt Lake City, and was the Olympic record holder for the 10,000 m (12:39.77), set when he won gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Bloemen also won a silver medal in the 5,000 m at the Pyeongchang Olympics, the first Canadian man to medal in the distance since 1932. He has won a silver in 10,000 m and one bronze and silver in the team pursuit at the World Speed Skating Championships.

Arne Johansen was a Norwegian speed skater and Olympic medalist. He received a bronze medal at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, shared with Gordon Audley from Canada.
Gordon Audley was a Canadian speed skater and Olympic medalist. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He received a bronze medal at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, shared with Arne Johansen, after serving as Canada's flag bearer in the opening ceremonies. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 1988.

He competed at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, and the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer. The only other New Zealander to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympics is Madonna Harris.

Morten Kristian Johansen Staubo is a Norwegian speed skater. He was born in Oslo, and represented the club Oslo SK. He competed in short track speed skating at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Bergljot Sandvik-Johansen was a Norwegian gymnast who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. She married the former speed skater Aage Johansen (1919–2012) and together they had a daughter, national figure skating champion and 1964 Olympian Berit Unn Johansen and a son Stein Erik Johansen.

Ronald Mulder is a Dutch speed skater. He won bronze in the men's 500 metres event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and finished sixth in the men's 500 metres event at the 2012 World Single Distance Championships. His twin brother, Michel Mulder, is also a speed skater. Both competed in The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland representing the Netherlands in 500 metres sprint and 200 metres time trial. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the men's 500 metres event, finishing in 7th place.
Shaolin Sándor Liu is a Chinese-Hungarian Olympic champion short track speed skater. He has won one gold and one bronze as part of the Hungarian team in short track speed skating relays at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. He has chosen to change nationality that may allow him to compete for China in 2024.
The Fearnley Olympic Award is a Norwegian Athletics Award. The award is given for outstanding achievements by a Norwegian Olympic participant. No competitor may win the award more than once. In 2021, it was decided that the prize would also be awarded for achievements at the Paralympics.
Shaoang Liu is a Hungarian-born Olympic gold medalist short track speed skater. He is the younger brother of teammate Shaolin Sándor Liu, and has won two golds and two bronzes represent Hungary at the Winter Olympics in 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics in short track speed skating. The gold medals were the first ever team gold, and the first ever individual gold at the Winter Olympics for Hungary. He changed his nationality and may represent China after 2023.
Johan Granath is a Swedish speed skater. He competed at the 1972 Winter Olympics, the 1976 Winter Olympics and the 1980 Winter Olympics. In March 1976, he won the Sprint World Championship title. The same year, he also appeared on the television show Superstars.
