Economou grew up in Long Island where she was involved in music programs at public school. [1] She was inspired by her older sister Nicole to begin playing music, and chose the violin. [1] Economou and her sister also grew up playing the Sega Genesis and games on the first generation of Xbox. [2]
Economou attended the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied composition. [1] During her studies, she began to work with people studying at Emerson College to score music for their films. [1] [2]
During her Master's degree for Composition for Visual Media at UCLA, she had an apprenticeship with Harry Gregson-Williams, who employed her following her graduation. [3]
Ubisoft approached Economou and employed her to initially work on Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris. [1] [2] She cited the work of Sarah Schachner, who wrote the music for the main game, as influential on her scores for the expansions, as well as music by black metal bands Wilderun and Ari Mason. [1] [4] Economou composed the soundtrack to the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The album for this soundtrack won the first ever Grammy award given to a game soundtrack. Principally set in the years 872–878 AD, the game recounts a fictional story during the Viking expansions into the British Isles. Players control Eivor Varinsdottir, a Viking raider who, while attempting to establish a new Viking clan in England, becomes embroiled in the centuries-old conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood, who fight for peace and liberty, and the Templar Order, who desire peace through control. The game also includes a framing story, set in the 21st century, which follows Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relives Eivor's memories so as to find a way to save the Earth from destruction.

The film follows a shy Kraken girl named Ruby Gillman (Condor) who is desperate to fit in at Oceanside High. When she breaks her mother's (Collette) rule by going into the ocean with any would-be friends, she discovers that she is a direct descendant of battle-hardened krakens who have protected the sea from evil mermaids for generations, and is also destined to inherit the throne from her grandmother (Fonda).

The game is the thirteenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and the successor to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While its historical timeframe precedes that of Valhalla, its modern-day framing story succeeds Valhalla's own. Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age—in particular during the Anarchy at Samarra—the story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones to fight for peace and liberty, against the Order of the Ancients, who desire peace through control. The main narrative focuses on Basim's internal struggle between his duties as a Hidden One and his desire to uncover his mysterious past.
Prey (Original Soundtrack) is the score album to the 2022 film of the same name directed by Dan Trachtenberg, which is the fifth instalment of the Predator franchise and a prequel to the first four films. The original score is composed by Sarah Schachner, the fourth composer to score for the franchise. Unlike the previous films, the score does not refer Alan Silvestri's themes from the first film, but featured new original themes created and curated for the film, focusing the principal character Naru (Amber Midthunder) and her emotional story and evolution. Several ancient string instruments have been used in the score, as the film is set during the 18th century America, while the score also featured Pueblo musician and flautist Robert Mirabal.

This is a sister category to the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, which previously honored scores written for film, television and video games, though Journey in 2013 was the only game ever nominated.

The album also accompanied two original songs: "This Moment" by Mimi Webb and "Rise" by Freya Ridings. The former was released as a single on June 23, while the latter was released along with the soundtrack by Back Lot Music on June 30, 2023.
