Stephen Freese (born March 16, 1960) is an American Republican politician from Wisconsin.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, he went to high school in Hazel Green, Wisconsin and graduated from University of Wisconsin–Platteville. He served as a town officer and on the Grant County, Wisconsin. Freese served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1991 until 2007, when he was defeated in 2006. [1] [2]

He began his Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009, where, two seasons later, he was a key player during the 2011 postseason, batting .545 with 12 hits in the 2011 National League Championship Series (NLCS). At the time, he also set an MLB postseason record of 21 runs batted in (RBIs), which earned him the NLCS MVP Award and World Series MVP Award. In addition, Freese won the Babe Ruth Award, naming him the MVP of the 2011 MLB postseason. He also played for the Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
