Stephen McCabe is a Labour Party councillor and leader of Inverclyde Council.
A graduate of the University of Strathclyde where he studied economics, [2] he has been a councillor since 1999,retaining his seat as the sole representative for 'Ward 6' in 2003. When larger,multi-member wards were created for the 2007 election,he stood successfully in Inverclyde East (covering Kilmacolm and eastern parts of Port Glasgow) and was re-elected there in 2012,2017 and 2022.
He was leader of the local authority between May 2007 and February 2011,when he stepped down for family reasons, [3] but was soon re-elected to the position in August of the same year,following the death of local MP David Cairns which in turn led to McCabe's successor Iain McKenzie being elected to Westminster in the 2011 Inverclyde by-election. Elaine Kildare Murray is a retired Scottish Labour politician. She was leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council for the 2017–2022 term. She was also the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Dumfries from 1999 to 2011,and then for Dumfriesshire from 2011 to 2016. At the 1999,2003 and 2007 elections,Murray increased her percentage share of the vote. She was Shadow Minister for the Environment in the Scottish Parliament. She lost her seat in 2016.
Inverclyde Council is one of the 32 local authorities of Scotland,covering the Inverclyde council area. In its current form the council was created in 1996,replacing the previous Inverclyde District Council which existed from 1975 to 1996.

During his period in the Westminster parliament,he was the SNP's Energy and Climate Change spokesperson in the House of Commons. McCaig was elected as a councillor on Aberdeen City Council in 2007,and was the Leader of Aberdeen City Council from 2011 until 2012.
The 2014 Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as local elections across the United Kingdom and a European election. One councillor was elected in each of the 17 wards for a four-year term. There are three councillors representing each ward elected on a staggered basis so one third of the councillor seats were up for re-election. The seats had previously been contested in 2010 which was held in conjunction with a general election. The turnout was significantly lower in 2014 than in 2010 which is not unusual when comparing local elections that coincide with general elections to ones that do not. Prior to the election Labour was the largest party in the council with 21 out of 51 seats,5 seats short of an overall majority. After the election there was no overall control of the council. Labour had 25 seats,only one short of a majority and so Labour continued to operate a minority administration.

Elections to Southampton City Council took place on Thursday 2 May 2019,alongside other local elections across the country. The Labour Party held a narrow majority of two at the last election and the seats contested in this election were last contested in 2015. Labour were defending 6 seats,the Conservatives were defending 8,whilst independent councillors,who held two seats,were not standing re-elections. Following a by-election in the Coxford ward where Labour gained the seat formerly held by an independent.
Elections to City of York Council were held on 2 May 2019,as part of the United Kingdom local elections. The election resulted in substantial gains for the Liberal Democrats,who became the largest party,although no party surpassed the 24-seat majority threshold. The Conservatives suffered badly in this election,and lost 12 of the 14 seats they had won at the previous election. The Green Party held all their four seats,and surpassed the Conservatives in the popular vote. Labour gained two seats,although they failed to gain support in rural areas,where voters favoured the Liberal Democrats. On 14 May,The Liberal Democrats and the Green Party announced that they had agreed to run the council in a new 'progressive partnership' coalition,with Green Party leader Andy D'Agorne assuming the role of Deputy Leader of the Council while Liberal Democrat leader Keith Aspden succeeded Ian Gillies as Leader of the Council.
