Steve Coury (born 1957) is a former American football wide receiver for the Oregon State Beavers and a current high school football coach at Lake Oswego High School and business executive.
The son of college and professional football coach Dick Coury, Steve Coury attended Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon where he played wide receiver, before moving on to Oregon State in 1976. Despite the team's overall poor performance during the years he played (the team won just 8 games in his four seasons), Coury was named an All-American in 1979. [1]
When he left Oregon State, he held the records for career receiving yards (1,837) and career receptions (135), and remains in the team's top ten for both statistics. He is tied with Reggie Bynum for the school record for most touchdowns in a half with 3. [2] He was inducted into the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. [3]
Following his college career, Coury played one season with the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. [3]
Following his playing days, Coury began coaching football. He coached high school football at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, coached wide receivers for the Portland Breakers of the USFL from 1983 to 1985 (where his father was head coach), [4] and was an assistant football coach at the University of Pittsburgh for three years. [5] In 1992, he was named head football coach at Lake Oswego High School. [6]
Coury has led the Lakers to six state football championship appearances and to state titles in 2011 and 2018. Since 1992, Coury has had a record of 259-87 as of 2022. [7] [8] [9]
In addition to his head coaching duties, Coury is vice president of SporTech, the West Coast distributor for FieldTurf artificial turf playing surfaces. [10] [11] He and his wife Nancy have three children and live in Lake Oswego. [11]
Lake Oswego is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon, primarily in Clackamas County, with small portions extending into neighboring Multnomah and Washington counties. Population in 2020 was 40,731, a 11.2% increase since 2010, making it the 11th most populous city in Oregon. The Portland Breakers were an American football team that played in the United States Football League (USFL) in the mid-1980s. Before moving to Portland, Oregon, the franchise was previously in Boston, Massachusetts as the Boston Breakers and New Orleans, Louisiana as the New Orleans Breakers.
Michael Joseph Riley is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach of the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). He has previously served as the head coach of two college football programs: Oregon State and Nebraska (2015–2017). Riley has also been the head coach of teams in four different professional leagues: the Canadian Football League (CFL), World League of American Football (WLAF), National Football League (NFL), and Alliance of American Football (AAF). He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 1970s.
The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) is a non-profit, board-governed organization that regulates high school athletics and competitive activities via athletic conferences in the U.S. state of Oregon, providing equitable competition among its members, both public and private. The OSAA is based in Wilsonville.
Mike Hass is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Oregon State Beavers, earning first-team All-American honors in 2005. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks and Omaha Nighthawks. Hass was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
The Oregon State Beavers are the athletic teams that represent Oregon State University, located in Corvallis, Oregon. Patrick Michael Casey is an American college baseball coach who was the head coach for the Oregon State Beavers baseball team. He is best known for winning the 2006 College World Series for the Beavers' first-ever baseball National Championship. The following year, he led the Beavers to a repeat championship in the 2007 College World Series, the first unranked team in history to accomplish this feat. He retired from Oregon State after winning his fourth championship in the 2017, 2018 College World Series.

Richard P. Coury was an American football coach. In a career that spanned across five decades, Coury coached with distinction on the high school, college, and professional levels. His most prominent posts were as head football coach at Cal State Fullerton from 1970 to 1971, the Portland Storm of the World Football League (WFL) in 1974, and the Boston/New Orleans/Portland Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL) from 1983 to 1985. He was named USFL Coach of the Year in 1983.

James Rodgers Jr. is an American football coach and former wide receiver who is the wide receivers coach for the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). Rodgers signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Oregon State Beavers, earning second-team All-American honors in 2009. He has also played for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). As a coach, he served as the outside linebackers coach for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football in 2019.
Gary Dwayne Payton II is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As a junior and senior playing college basketball for the Oregon State Beavers, Payton was named first-team All-Pac-12 as well as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. He won his first NBA championship with the Warriors in 2022.
