Dick Howser Trophy US annual award for the national college baseball player of the year

The Dick Howser Trophy is bestowed annually to the national college baseball player of the year. The award is named after former collegiate and Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager Dick Howser, who died of brain cancer in 1987 at the age of 51. In that same year, the award was established by friends of Howser and presented to Mike Fiore, the inaugural winner. It is considered to be the Heisman Trophy of college baseball.

The 2008 Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team represented Mississippi State University in the NCAA Division I baseball season of 2008. The team was coached by Ron Polk, in his 35th year as a collegiate head coach, and his 29th at Mississippi State. During mid-season, Coach Polk announced he would resign effective at the conclusion of the season. Following the conclusion of the season, former MSU standout and University of Kentucky Head Baseball coach John Cohen was announced by incoming AD Greg Bryne as the new Mississippi State Baseball Coach for 2009.

David Andrew Berg is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins baseball team. He was named an All-American and Pac-12 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Year in 2013. He set a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) record for saves in a single season with 24. The Texas Rangers selected Berg in the 17th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He did not sign with the Rangers and returned to UCLA for his senior season. He was then drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He left professional baseball in 2018 without ever playing in the major leagues.

Alexander David Bregman is an American professional baseball third baseman and shortstop for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB).

The 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 14, 2014. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament and 2014 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 25, 2014 with the final game of the best-of-three championship series between Vanderbilt and Virginia, won by Vanderbilt.

Kyle Schwarber American baseball player

Kyle Joseph Schwarber is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Indiana Hoosiers and was a first-round selection in the 2014 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs. He made his MLB debut with the Cubs in 2015 and has also played for the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox. He helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series over the Cleveland Indians, ending their 108-year drought.

Thomas E. Burrows is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves organization. The Seattle Mariners selected Burrows in the fourth round, with the 117th overall selection, of the 2016 MLB draft.

Garrett Lincoln Henzman is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Chicago White Sox organization.

Jake Mangum American baseball player

Jake Thomas Mangum is an American professional baseball outfielder in the New York Mets organization. He played college baseball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

2019 Michigan Wolverines baseball team

The 2019 Michigan Wolverines baseball team represented the University of Michigan in the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wolverines, led by head coach Erik Bakich in his seventh season, were a member of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Wilpon Baseball Complex in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Wolverines finished the season with a 50–22 record, including 16–7 in conference play, marking their first 50 win season since 1987.

2016 Ole Miss Rebels baseball team

The 2016 Ole Miss Rebels baseball team represented the University of Mississippi in the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Rebels played their home games at Swayze Field.
