Strange Words and Weird Wars is the second studio album by Scottish musician Marnie, released on 2 June 2017 through Disco Pinata. It is Marnie's second album released during the hiatus of her main band Ladytron, the first being Crystal World (2013).

Strange Words and Weird Wars is the second solo album of the Scottish musician Marnie (full name Helen Marnie), the lead vocalist and one of the songwriters and keyboardists of the electronic band Ladytron. The album was released on 2 June 2017. The first single "Alphabet Block" premiered on 24 January 2017 on PopJustice. [3] "Lost Maps" was chosen as the second single and it was released on 30 March.

Ladytron are an English electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie, Mira Aroyo, and Daniel Hunt. Reuben Wu (synthesizers) was a member from 1999 until 2023. They have released seven studio albums: 604 (2001), Light & Magic (2002), Witching Hour (2005), Velocifero (2008), Gravity the Seducer (2011), Ladytron (2019) and Time's Arrow (2023). They also issued the live album Live at London Astoria 16.07.08 in 2009 and the compilation album Best of 00–10 in 2011. They have produced remixes for artists such as Dave Gahan, Erasure, Goldfrapp, Apoptygma Berzerk, Placebo, Blondie, Gang of Four, Christina Aguilera, Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, Kings of Convenience, Soulwax and Róisín Murphy.

The Waterboys are a British-Irish folk rock band formed in London in 1983 by Scottish musician and songwriter Mike Scott. The band's membership, past and present, has been composed mainly of musicians from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. Mike Scott has remained the only constant member throughout the band's career. They have explored a number of different styles, but their music is mainly a mix of folk music with rock and roll. They dissolved in 1993 when Scott departed to pursue a solo career. The group reformed in 2000, and continue to release albums and to tour worldwide. Scott emphasises a continuity between the Waterboys and his solo work, saying that "To me there's no difference between Mike Scott and the Waterboys; they both mean the same thing. They mean myself and whoever are my current travelling musical companions."

A deluxe version was also released, featuring a bonus disc of 16 additional tracks and an 80-page photo booklet.

This edition included Ladytron's debut single "He Took Her To a Movie" remixed by Tricadel's owner Bertrand Burgalat and the instrumental "Olivetti Jerk".

The album was produced in 2012 in Reykjavík, Iceland, by her Ladytron band-mate Daniel Hunt in collaboration with the Icelandic musician Barði Jóhannsson. Alessandro Cortini also produced the second song, "We Are the Sea". Crystal World comprises ten original songs written by Marnie while Ladytron had a break after their fifth studio album, Gravity the Seducer in 2011. Crystal World is available in these formats: music download, CD, 12" vinyl.
Real Emotion is the third full-length studio album by Paper Route, released on September 23, 2016. The song "Chariots" was featured on the soundtrack for EA Sports game FIFA 17 and was used as the exclusive gameplay trailer track. "Writing on the Wall" is featured on the soundtrack for NBA 2K17.
