Student Agency is a Czech travel agency whose main focuses are on au-pair programmes, resale of airline tickets, bus and rail transport. Its headquarters are in Brno, Czech Republic. Despite the company's name, their services are not sold exclusively to students. Student Agency is the sole owner of RegioJet, which operates bus and rail transport across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Initially the company dealt with mediating au-pair stays for students from the Czech Republic, later extending its sphere of activities to include:
mediating language study programmes abroad (1996)
mediating work programmes (1996)
regular domestic bus transport (2004)
sale of air tickets (2000)
sale of tours and holidays (2010)
Within the transport field, Student Agency operated international bus transport from the start and since 2004 the company operated regular domestic lines.
On 24 February 2006, Student Agency was recognised in the TTG Travel Awards of 2005 as “Best flight (IATA) agency in the Czech Republic” and “Best bus transporter”. In the same year, CEO Jančura expressed in several interviews his intention to extend Student Agency's bus transport within 3 years and to also become a provider of rail.
The company RegioJet a.s. was incorporated in the Companies Register on 20 March 2009 with the subject of enterprise “production, business and services not stated in attachments 1 to 3 of the Trade Licensing Act” and on 6 October 2009 the subject of activity “operator of railway and railway transport” was registered. RegioJet is a private railway operator which competes with state-owned Czech and Slovak railways. They have been given the right to operate on Czech tracks and are one of the service providers on the Ostrava-Prague connection. They also offer train services in Slovakia and operate routes to other European cities, such as Vienna.[2]
A sister company of the same name, RegioJet a.s., with its registered office in Bratislava was established in 2010 and is nowadays an operator of rail and bus transport in Slovakia.
In April 2013, Student Agency acquired taxi company Tick Tack with the aim of operating a taxi service aimed at wealthier and corporate clients. Jančura announced that the new company should become number one in the taxi service in Prague within a year, purchase 1,000 new Audi A6 and BMW GT cars with an average age of up to 1 year, and improve the bad name of the Prague taxi service. Trial operation was supposed to start on July 15, 2013 and full operation after the summer holidays. The company was sold to competitor "Taxi Prague" in February 2018 due to financial losses.[3]
Finances
At the end of 2004 Student Agency had 368 employees, the annual turnover totalled CZK 1.5 bn, and the operating profit amounted to CZK 9m.[4] The company's registered capital is only CZK 1m.
In the first half of 2008, Student Agency announced operating profit of CZK 2.1 bn and employed 950 people.[5]

Transport in the Czech Republic relies on several main modes, including transport by road, rail, water and air.
Czech Airlines is a Czech aviation brand and privately held holding company. Between 1923 and 2024, it operated as an independent airline and served as the flag carrier of the Czech Republic. Czech Airlines ended its own flight operations on 26 October 2024, handing them over to Smartwings while being repurposed into a holding company.
Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava, formerly Ostrava-Mošnov International Airport, is the airport of the city of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, a major economic and industrial centre. It is located 20 km (12 mi) to the southwest of the city and also acts as a point of entry to northern Moravia and Czech Silesia. The airport was renamed in December 2006 after the composer Leoš Janáček.
České dráhy, often shortened to ČD, is the major railway operator in the Czech Republic providing regional and long-distance services.
The D1 motorway is the main motorway of the Czech Republic. It routes from Prague to Brno and on to the Polish border, although there is currently a small section still under construction. Once completed its length will be 376.5 km (233.9 mi). It is the busiest motorway in the Czech Republic, with a maximum AADT of 99,000 vehicles per day near Prague.

Highways in the Czech Republic are managed by the state-owned Directorate of Highways and Motorways of the Czech Republic – ŘSD ČR. The ŘSD currently manages and maintains 1,501 km of motorways (dálnice) and the national speed limit is 130 km/h with an expectation that limit will be increased for some sections to 150 km/h (93 mph). RegioJet a.s. is a private Czech provider of passenger rail and bus transport. The company Student Agency, owned by Czech businessman Radim Jančura, is the sole owner. A sister company of the same name, with its registered office in Bratislava, is an operator of passenger rail and bus transport in Slovakia.
Rail transport in the Czech Republic carried 193.5 million passengers in 2019, and 68.37 million tonnes of cargo in the year 2009. The majority of passenger services run nowadays are operated by the state company České dráhy, which until 2007 also managed cargo services now run by ČD Cargo. In 2009 the country had 9,420 km of standard gauge track, 3,153 km of which is electrified. There are two main electrification systems in the Czech Republic, 3 kV DC in the northern part, and 25 kV 50 Hz AC in the south. The maximum speed for passenger traffic is 160 km/h (100 mph).
Leo Express, formerly known as Rapid Express, is an open-access train operator in the Czech Republic, established in 2010. It launched inter-city services in November 2012 on the Prague–Ostrava route, on which state-owned operator Czech Railways and open-access operator RegioJet were already running trains.
Břeclav railway station is an important international railway junction in the Czech Republic, located in the town of Břeclav in South Moravia, close to the borders with Austria and Slovakia.

High-speed rail in the Czech Republic is being planned with construction starting in 2026 and maximum speed between 200 and 320 km/h. Although České Dráhy owns and operates multiple rolling stock capable of speeds of 230 km/h (143 mph) since 2004, there is, as of 2023, no infrastructure capable of velocity over 200 km/h (124 mph). The only exception is the 13.3-kilometre long track at Velim railway test circuit with a maximum allowed speed of 230 km/h (143 mph) for tilting trains and up to 210 km/h (130 mph) for conventional trains. Czech rolling stock manufacturer Škoda Transportation has produced high-speed rolling stock since the 1970s.
Škoda 7Ev is an electric multiple unit produced by Škoda Transportation. The trainset was developed at the order of the České dráhy in 2011.
Škoda Transportation a.s. is a Czech engineering company that continues the legacy of Škoda Works' rolling stock manufacturing that started at the end of 19th century in Plzeň. Following the first world war, the Works commenced locomotive production in a separate factory dedicated to that purpose. This factory became a separate company in the 1990s. Today, Škoda Transportation develops and manufactures electric rail vehicles for urban and railway transport.
Prague Integrated Transport is an integrated public transport system providing services in Prague and within the Central Bohemian Region. It is run by a city-owned transit authority called Regional Organiser of Prague Integrated Transport (ROPID).
