James D. Oberweis is an American businessman,investment manager,and politician from the state of Illinois. The owner of Oberweis Dairy in North Aurora near Chicago,he served as a member of the Illinois Senate,representing the 25th district from 2013 to 2021.
The Illinois Senate is the upper chamber of the Illinois General Assembly,the legislative branch of the government of the State of Illinois in the United States. The body was created by the first state constitution adopted in 1818. Under the Illinois Constitution of 1970,the Illinois Senate is made up of 59 senators elected from individual legislative districts determined by population and redistricted every 10 years;based on the 2020 U.S. census each senator represents approximately 213,347 people. Senators are divided into three groups,each group having a two-year term at a different part of the decade between censuses,with the rest of the decade being taken up by two four-year terms. This ensures that the Senate reflects changes made when the General Assembly redistricts itself after each census.
Christopher John Lauzen is an American politician,businessman,and Certified Public Accountant who served as the chairman of the Kane County Board in Illinois from 2012 to 2020. Lauzen was first elected in 2012. He previously served as a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate,serving from 1993 to 2013. He ran unsuccessfully for Illinois Comptroller in 1998 and for United States Congress in 2008.

The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in Illinois were held on November 3,2020,to elect the 18 U.S. representatives from the state of Illinois,one from each of the state's 18 congressional districts. The elections coincided with the 2020 U.S. presidential election,as well as other elections to the House of Representatives,elections to the United States Senate,various state and local elections,and the Illinois Fair Tax.
The 97th Illinois General Assembly convened on January 12,2011 and adjourned sine die on January 8,2013. Over that period,the Illinois Senate was in session for 137 legislative days,and the Illinois House was in session for 166 legislative days.
