Summit Records, Inc. is an internationally distributed record label that evolved out of the large brass ensemble Summit Brass [1] in the late 1980s. It was established by David Hickman and Ralph Sauer.
Four Summit Records recordings have been nominated for Grammy Awards, including The Manhattan Transfer Meets Tubby the Tuba in the Best Children's Album category, the Chicago Chamber Musicians [2] were finalists in the Best Chamber Music Performance category, Pete McGuinness in the Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist for his arrangement of "Smile", and The University of Miami Concert Jazz Bands' recording of "Three Romances" in the category of Best Instrumental Composition.
In 2006 Summit Records took over distributorship of MAMA Records, which was founded in 1990 by Gene Czerwinski, who also founded Cerwin-Vega. It has won three Grammy Awards, including Count Basie Orchestra, Bob Florence, and Randy Brecker.

The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is a free jazz music festival held annually in June at Rodney Square in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. The first festival was held in 1989 on the open lawn in the center of the city, and has grown into the largest free jazz festival on the East Coast. The event is held to keep alive the memory of Clifford Brown who died in a traffic accident in 1956 along with pianist Richie Powell. Pieces written by Brown and tribute pieces are often played. Some acts have been staged at the Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, where a fee was charged.

The Manhattan Transfer Meets Tubby The Tuba is a children's studio album released by The Manhattan Transfer in 1994 on the Summit Records label. It features music by George Kleinsinger and stories by Paul Tripp. This is the group's only children's recording, offering a rendition of the 1945 children's classic that teaches the important lesson: "Be yourself; you can't be anybody else!". This album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Musical Album for Children.

Nominations were announced on November 30, 2011, on prime-time television as part of "The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live! – Countdown to Music's Biggest Night", a one-hour special broadcast live on CBS from Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live. Kanye West received the most nominations with seven. Adele, Foo Fighters, and Bruno Mars each received six nominations. Lil Wayne, Skrillex, and Radiohead all earned five nominations. The nominations were criticised by many music journalists as Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy missed out on a nomination for Album of the Year despite being highly critically acclaimed and topping many end of year charts. West's album went on to win Best Rap Album.
Big Boss Band is the 1990 studio album of American musician George Benson on Warner Bros. featuring the Count Basie Orchestra. This is Benson's second consecutive album which returns to his jazz roots after his successful pop career in the 1980s, and also his debut as sole producer of an album. The genre is mainly big band swing with some Michel Legrand and R&B thrown in.
Michael Waldrop is an American drummer, percussionist, composer and music educator. He is notable as a virtuoso percussionist in both jazz and classical idioms, with equal focus on drumset and keyboard percussion (marimba/vibraphone). Since 2014, he has been a recording artist for Origin Records.
