Sunday Chilufya Chanda (born 12 September 1976) is a Zambian politician who serves as Member of Parliament for Kanchibiya Constituency in Northern Zambia. He was elected to the position in August 2021. [1] [2] [3]
Chanda was born in Ndola at Masala Police Camp on 12 September 1976 to a father who was a policeman and a mother who was a housewife. His father resigned from the Zambia Police to join Ndola City Council as Bar Manager in Kabushi township in Ndola in the 80s. After working for the council,his father pushed himself until he joined Bank of Zambia through night school. In 2023,Chanda stated that “my late father’s unrelenting fighting spirit lives in me and I draw inspiration from it”. Chanda attended primary education in Ndola. [4]
Chanda began active involvement in Zambian politics as a card carrying member of the Zambia Democratic Congress (ZADECO) under the late Dean Namulya Mung’omba in 1996. He later became director of the Open Society Foundation where he challenged several government decisions that he believed were not in the interests of ordinary Zambians. [5] He then went on to join the then ruling Patriotic Front and was appointed as the party's media director. In 2021,he sought the Party's adoption to contest the Kanchibiya Parliamentary seat which he won with a majority on 12 August. He has a law degree from the University of Lusaka. [6]
Chanda has been one of the MPs advocating for the effective use of the Constituency Development Fund - CDF by using the fund to support the agricultural sector and its value chain in his constituency,constructing roads,bridges,first ever mortuary and first ever radio station,schools and health Centres in Kanchibiya. He serves in two Parliamentary Committees namely- National Security and Foreign Affairs and the Parliamentary Committee on Transport,works and supply. [7] [8]
Chanda has used his space in Zambian politics to advocate for Climate Change particularly on issues of local forests management,carbon trading,land conservation,climate smart agriculture,land maintenance and restoration. [9] [10]
Chanda is also author of his first Pan African Book entitled “In Defence of my Heritage”- which focuses on the Black race. He is married and has children. [11]

Peter Zuze Air Force Base is an airbase located in the city of Ndola in the Copperbelt Province in northern Zambia. It used to be the premises of the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport until late 2021,when Ndola's airport moved its operations 15 km (9.3 mi) to the west and this old airport address ceased to be a commercial airport. It now belongs to the Zambian Air Force.
Given Lubinda is a Zambian politician who served in the Cabinet of Zambia as Minister of Justice. He is a former Member of Parliament for the National Assembly of Zambia for Kabwata Constituency in Lusaka. He was first elected as Kabwata MP in 2001 under the UPND ticket and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013. Following the retirement of Edgar Lungu from active politics after the 2021 election,Given Lubinda was the acting president of the former ruling party,the Patriotic Front. However,Edgar Lungu returned to active politics in October 2023 and he was handed back the Patriotic Front presidency,with Given Lubinda being appointed as the party's vice-president,a position he held before Lungu's retirement after the 2021 election. Lubinda is of mixed-race parentage. He is known as an outspoken politician.

Bernard Chanda was one of Zambia's greatest strikers and was the league top scorer three times. Nicknamed 'Bomber,' he played for three of Zambia's biggest clubs –Roan United,Mufulira Wanderers and Rokana United,and is remembered for scoring a hat-trick in the 4–2 semi-final victory over Congo at the 1974 African Cup of Nations tournament. Chanda was voted Zambian Footballer of the Year in 1974 and is fourth on the list of all-time goal scorers for Zambia in international matches behind Godfrey Chitalu,Alex Chola and Kalusha Bwalya with 29 goals.
Benjamin Yoram Mwila,often known as BY,was a Zambian politician and businessman. Mwila was a prominent leader and co-founder of the Zambia Republican Party. He served as an MP for Luanshya in the National Assembly. Mwila held several cabinet portfolios within the cabinet of President Frederick Chiluba during the 1990s,including Minister of Defence from 1991 to 1997.
Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a Zambian politician who served as the sixth president of Zambia from 26 January 2015 to 24 August 2021. Under President Michael Sata,Lungu served as Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence. The T3 is a trunk road in Zambia. The road runs from Kapiri Mposhi via Ndola,Kitwe and Chingola to Kasumbalesa on the border with DR Congo. The entire route is a toll road.
The M4 road is a road in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. The road connects the city of Ndola with the city of Mufulira and extends to connect Mufulira with the city of Kitwe. As it is a v-shaped route,the M4 road starts and ends at a junction with the T3 road.

Arthur Davison Children's Hospital is a public,3rd level hospital located in Ndola,Zambia that was established in 1924. Created by the Mine Workers Union as a minor clinic it served only children who were children of the miners. The clinic blossomed 1933 when it became a hospital named after Arthur Davison –a noted mine manager who championed for care for minors.
