Suranjith Dharmasena (born 26 December 1965) is a Sri Lankan cricketer who played for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club. He played in twenty-eight first-class and five List A matches between 1989 and 1993. [1] [2] [3]
Dharmasena was born in Colombo in 1965. His mother,Sopahia ( née Marasinghe) represented Ceylon in volleyball and netball. Suranjith and his brother Kishan both attended Thurstan College,where Suranjith was cricket captain in 1984. [4]
Dharmasena played in Sri Lankan domestic cricket for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club,making his first-class cricket debut in 1989. [1] His Sri Lankan cricket career was cut short when,in 1993,he moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to work as a banker. His career continued in the UAE,where he was a prolific batsman in club cricket. [5]
In February 2020,he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the Over-50s Cricket World Cup in South Africa. [6] [7] However,the tournament was cancelled during the third round of matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [8] He was later stranded in South Africa due to the lockdown in the country and no flights being available. [9]

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen and wicket-keepers in cricket history,and is an ICC Cricket Hall of Fame inductee.
Denagamage Praboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene is a Sri Lankan former professional cricketer and former captain of the Sri Lankan national cricket team. He is the current consultant coach of the Sri Lankan national team and the head coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in international cricket history.
Don Sardha Brendon Priyantha Kuruppu is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played as a wicket-keeper and opening batsman. He is one of few batsmen in the world to score a double century on debut. Brendon was often played in One Day Internationals,making 54 appearances for the national team from 1983 to 1990,but his short Test career was largely unremarkable but for one productive innings in Colombo when he scored 201,becoming the first batsman to score a Test century on debut for Sri Lanka.
Lalith Wasantha Silva Kaluperuma is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer,who played first-class cricket from 1970 to 1983. He played in Sri Lanka's first Test team in 1982.
Deshabandu Handunnettige Deepthi Priyantha Kumar Dharmasena is a Sri Lankan cricket umpire and former international cricketer. He is a member of the ICC Elite Panel Umpires and the first and only person to participate in an ICC Cricket World Cup final both as a player and an umpire,as he was a member of the Sri Lankan side that won the 1996 Cricket World Cup. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler.
Jehan Mubarak is an American-born former professional Sri Lankan cricketer,who played all formats of the game. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler.
Warushavithana Upul Tharanga,commonly known as Upul Tharanga,is a former professional Sri Lankan cricketer,and a former limited over captain who played for all formats of the game. He is a left-handed opening batsman and occasional wicket-keeper. On 23 February 2021,Upul announced his retirement from international cricket.

Balapuwaduge Manukulasuriya Amith Jeevan Mendis is a former Sri Lankan professional cricketer,who played limited over internationals. An all-rounder who bowls leg spin,Mendis has represented Sri Lanka in the 2012 World Twenty20 and 2015 World Cup. Domestically,he plays for Tamil Union in Sri Lanka,and he has also played for Derbyshire in England during 2017. Mendis announced his retirement from international cricket on 28 December 2021.

Angelo Kanishka Perera,or Angelo Perera,is a former professional cricketer,who played limited over cricket for Sri Lanka. He is a right-handed batsman and left-arm slow bowler who plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club. He was born in Moratuwa and attended to St Peter's College,Colombo. In 2019,he became only the second batsman after Arthur Fagg to score double centuries in both innings of any first class match. Perera retired from international cricket in January 2022,having last playing for the national team in 2019.
Andri Raffaelo Berenger,is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman. He was born in Colombo. He has played for the United Arab Emirates and for Qatar.
Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain,who has also played in English county cricket. De Silva was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that won 1996 Cricket World Cup,where he scored a match winning century in the final,that brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. He has held various posts in Sri Lankan Cricket after his retirement in 2003.
Seekkuge Prasanna is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer,who plays for limited over cricket. He is a warrant officer in the Sri Lankan Army. Prasanna is known for aggressive batting at the late overs in ODIs,and a useful leg-spinner,probably the best found after former Sri Lanka leg-spinner Upul Chandana. Prasanna was a member of the Sri Lankan team that won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.

He made his List A debut on 27 October 2021,for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the 2021–22 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament. He made his Twenty20 debut on 23 May 2022,for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the Major Clubs T20 Tournament.
