Suresh Kumar Alemagar is a Nepalese politician,belonging to the CPN (Maoist Centre). He was previously working as a lecturer in English at the Nepal Law Campus,Tribhuvan University,Kathmandu. [1]
Ale was the founding General Secretary of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities and the Nepal Magar Association. [2] [3] He has also been the president of the All Nepal Nationalities Organisation. [1]
In 1999 Ale was arrested three times under the Public Security Act. [1] In late 1999,Amnesty International expressed concern over the possibility that Ale had 'disappeared'. However,after the visit of an AI official to Nepal,Ale was released by the state authorities in early 2000. [4]
In 2004 Ale was arrested by Indian authorities,and handed over the regime in Nepal. Ale was at the time active in the International Department of CPN(Maoist) and the World People's Resistance Movement. [5] Matrika Prasad Yadav and Upendra Yadav were arrested along with Ale. [6]
In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election he was elected from the Tanahu-1 constituency,winning 17744 votes. [7]

The first Nepalese Constituent Assembly was a unicameral body of 601 members that served from May 28,2008,to May 28,2012. It was formed as a result of the first Constituent Assembly election held on April 10,2008. The Constituent Assembly (CA) was tasked with writing a new constitution,and acting as the interim legislature for a term of two years. 240 members were elected in single-seat constituencies,335 were elected through proportional representation,and the remaining 26 seats were reserved for nominated members.

The chief commander of the PLA during the war was Prachanda. On 12 September 2008,Nanda Kishor Pun was appointed new chief commander of the PLA,as Prachanda had become Prime Minister of Nepal. This move was in line with a pledge issued by the CPN(M),issued prior to the 2008 Constituent Assembly election,that their members elected to the Assembly would leave their PLA positions.
