The Surjit Hockey Society is an Indian society established in 1984 after Olympian Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa. Since its establishment the society has organized the Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament in Jalandhar every year. [1] [2] The society has the current Chief Minister of Punjab as its Chief Patron. Every year a hockey camp is held in an effort to find talented hockey players from the surrounding areas of Punjab. In 2012, in an effort to revive the sport in the state, Government of Punjab announced its decision to support the society. [3]

Pargat Singh Indian hckey player and politician (born 1965)

Pargat Singh is a hockey player turned politician in India and belongs to the Indian National Congress in Punjab. He is a former Indian hockey player and his playing position was of full back. He was considered one of the world's best defenders erstwhile. He captained Indian men's hockey team at 1992 Barcelona Olympics and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was working as an SP with Punjab police before taking a plunge into politics.

Khaira (کھیہرا) is a Punjabi surname common among [Jatt] not to be confused with Kheirra (کھیڑا)[jatt] in Punjab, India & Punjab, Pakistan. The surname is particularly common in the city of Amritsar where majority of the Khairas were settled before the 1947 Partition of India. There are many variations of this surname such as Khara and Khehra. In India, Khehras live in Faridkot, Batala, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Moga etc. in addition to Amritsar. The Surjit Hockey Stadium, also sometimes referred to as Surjeet Hockey Stadium, is a field hockey stadium in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. It is named after Jalandhar born Olympian Surjit Singh. This stadium is home of the franchise Sher-e-Punjab of the World Series Hockey and Punjab Warriors of Hockey India League. It is established by the members of the Surjit Hockey Society.

Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa was an Indian field hockey player, who played for India national field hockey team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He was a full back and captain of India field hockey team. He got his training from DSP Ajit Singh Ahluwalia.

Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament is organized by Surjit Hockey Society every year in Jalandhar, Punjab. It is for the memorial of Surjit Singh.
