Susan J. Bartlett (born December 18, 1946 in Fall River, Massachusetts) is an American politician from the State of Vermont. She was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Vermont in 2010 after having served 18 years in the Vermont Senate representing the Lamoille senate district.

Bartlett moved with her parents in 1962 to Orleans, Vermont and graduated in 1964 from Orleans High School. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont (1968) and a Master's degree in special education administration from SMSU in Johnson, Vermont (1976).

As a small business owner in Stowe, Vermont, Bartlett was elected in 1992 as the first woman and first Democrat to represent Lamoille County in the Vermont Senate. She served on the Appropriations Committee from 1994 to 2011 and was its chair from 2001 onwards. She has previously served on the Economic Development Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Government Operations Committee and the Agriculture Committee.

On June 4, 2009, Bartlett announced her intention to seek the Democratic nomination for Governor of Vermont in 2010. [1] She placed fifth in the primary election, which was won by Peter Shumlin, receiving about five percent of the vote. [2]

After Shumlin won the general election, Bartlett became Shumlin's Special Assistant, with responsibility for oversight of education and other policy initiatives. [3]

In January 2013 Bartlett moved to the state Agency of Human Services as a Special Projects Coordinator, with the intent to focus on education, employment and antipoverty programs for low-income Vermonters. [4]

She lives in Hyde Park, Vermont with her husband, William.

Randy Brock American politician

Randolph D. "Randy" Brock III is an American politician from the state of Vermont and a member of the Republican Party. He served as the Vermont Auditor of Accounts from 2005 to 2007, as a member of the Vermont Senate from 2009 to 2013 and was the Republican nominee for Governor of Vermont in 2012, losing to Democratic incumbent Peter Shumlin. He ran unopposed for the 2016 Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont. In December 2017, Governor Phil Scott announced that he had appointed Brock to the Vermont Senate, filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dustin Allard Degree.

Deborah "Deb" Markowitz is the state director for The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts. Prior to this, she served from 2011-2017 as the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. She has also been a Visiting Professor of Environmental Policy and Leadership at the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Markowitz was elected six times to serve as the Secretary of State of Vermont. Although she is a member of the Democratic Party, she won the nomination of both the Republican and Democratic Parties in two of her races.

Peter Shumlin 81st Governor of Vermont

Peter Elliott Shumlin is an American politician from Vermont. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 81st Governor of Vermont from 2011 to 2017. He was first elected to the office in 2010, and was reelected to a second term in 2012. In 2014 he received a narrow plurality in his race for reelection, but did not attain the 50% threshold mandated by the Constitution of Vermont. In such cases the Vermont General Assembly elects the winner. The legislature almost always selects the candidate who received a plurality; this held true, and the General Assembly re-elected Shumlin to a third term by a vote of 110–69 in January 2015. In June 2015, Shumlin announced that he would not seek re-election in 2016. He has signed laws on physician-assisted suicide as well as the United States' first genetically modified food labeling requirement during his tenure as governor. He was chair of the Democratic Governors Association during his first two terms.

George B. "Jeb" Spaulding is the former chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges. He previously served as Vermont State Treasurer and as Governor Peter Shumlin's secretary of administration.

2010 Vermont gubernatorial election

The 2010 Vermont gubernatorial general election took place on November 2. Vermont and New Hampshire are the only two states where the governor serves a two-year term instead of four. Primary elections took place on August 24.

Incumbent Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin won re-election to a second term, making this the only one of his gubernatorial elections in which he won a majority of the vote. Scott Milne

Scott Edward Milne is an American businessman and perennial candidate from North Pomfret, Vermont. He was the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor in Vermont's 2020 elections. He was the Republican nominee in the United States Senate election of 2016 in Vermont. He was also the Republican nominee in the Vermont gubernatorial election of 2014, an election that he lost to the two-term incumbent Peter Shumlin by less than 1.2% of the vote, the closest gubernatorial election in modern Vermont history.

Sue Minter American politician

Sue M. Minter is an American politician from the state of Vermont. She served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011, led Vermont's recovery efforts after Tropical Storm Irene, and became secretary of the Vermont Agency of Transportation in 2015. Minter was the Democratic Party nominee in the Vermont gubernatorial election of 2016. She lost to the Republican Party nominee Phil Scott.

Bernard Charles Juskiewicz Jr. was an American politician in the state of Vermont. He was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives, who sat as a Republican from the Lamoille-3 district, after having been elected for the first time in 2012. Juskiewicz did not seek reelection in 2018. He also served on the Lamoille Union High School Board, the Cambridge Elementary School Board and the Cambridge Select Board.

A general election was held in the U.S. state of Vermont on November 5, 2002. All of Vermont's executive officers were up for election as well as Vermont's at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives.
