Moorehead was an undergraduate at the University of York and graduated from the London School of Economics with a PhD in International Relations in 1983. [3]
In 2012 Moorehead was appointed to the advisory committee to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). Members of the advisory group represent themselves and not their country. Other group members included Ahmed Al-Meraikhi of Qatar, Jozef H.L.M. Andriessen from the Netherlands, Ugandan Julius Oketta, Susan Eckey of Norway, Yukie Osa from Japan and Croatian Nancy Butijer. Moorehead has served as the U.K. Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti [5] and Permanent Representative to the African Union and UNECA. [6] She was the U.K. Executive Director to the World Bank Group, and the Department for International Development's Director for West and Southern Africa.[ citation needed ]
She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from University of York in 2014. [3]
Moorehead was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the 2024 New Year Honours for services to international development and diplomacy. [7]

He is an Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund. He has been the United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda since February 2020. He was the Minister of Investment of Egypt from 2004-2010, and most recently, served as the World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations and Partnerships. His roles at the World Bank also included Managing Director, responsible for Human Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty Reduction and Economic Management, Finance and Private Sector Development, and the World Bank Institute; World Bank President's Special Envoy on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the Post-2015 Development Agenda, and Financing for Development; and Corporate Secretary and Executive Secretary to the Development Committee of the World Bank Group's Board of Governors. Dr Mohieldin also served on several Boards of Directors in the Central Bank of Egypt and the corporate sector. He was a member of the Commission on Growth and Development and was selected for the Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2005. His professional experience extends into the academic arena as a Professor of Economics and Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University and as a Visiting Professor at several renowned Universities in Egypt, Korea, the UAE, the UK and the USA. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of Durham University Business School. He also holds leading positions in national, regional and international research centres and associations. He has authored numerous publications and articles in leading journals in the fields of economics, finance and development.

Major General Julius Facki Oketta was a military officer in Uganda. He was a senior commander in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF). Before his death, he was the Director of National Emergency Coordination and Operations in the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda. In October 2013, the President of Uganda nominated and the Secretary General of the United Nations endorsed General Oketta to join the advisory group of the United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). In 2004, at the rank of brigadier, he was a member of the pioneer class to attend the Uganda Senor Command and Staff College, at Kimaka, Jinja, Eastern Uganda, under its first commandant, Lieutenant General Ivan Koreta. Oketta died in the early hours on 5 November 2016.
