Susanne Dandenault is a Canadian lawyer and former weightlifter. She holds Canadian records for clean and jerk and snatch.
Dandenault grew up in Manitoba, attending Glenlawn Collegiate. She attended the University of Washington on a track and field scholarship, majoring in psychology and environmental studies. She went on to get her law degree from the University of Manitoba. [1]
Dandenault graduated from law school in 1996. She then competed as a weightlifter, including on the Canadian team from 1998 to 2005. [2] She competed in five World Championships, two Pan American Games, a Commonwealth Games and was an alternate at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She is a nine-time national champion (1997–2005). She still holds several Canadian records. [3]
Dandenault returned to working in law in 2005. [2]
In 2019, Dandenaut was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. [2] [3]
In 2023, Dandenault became the chair of Sports Manitoba, a two-year position, the first woman to chair the board. [4]
The Manitoba Bisons are the athletic teams that represent the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The football team plays their games at Princess Auto Stadium. Cael Norman Sanderson is an American former folkstyle and freestyle wrestler who is the current head coach of Penn State's wrestling team. As a wrestler, he won an Olympic gold medal and was undefeated in four years of college wrestling at Iowa State (159–0), becoming a four-time NCAA Division I champion (1999–2002).
Susan Marie Nattrass, is a Canadian trap shooter and medical researcher in osteoporosis. She was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Competing at an elite international level from the 1970s through the 2010s, Nattrass has had multiple appearances, in one or both of trap or double trap, at Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and Pan American Games. Nattrass is a repeat World Champion and repeat medalist at the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and Pan American Games. She was the flag bearer for Canada at the 2007 Pan American Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Elizabeth Margaret Ellis, is a retired Australian netball player and television presenter who was a member of the national netball team from 1992 until 2007 and captain for the last four of those years. She is the most capped international player for Australian netball. Liz Ellis was inducted to the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2006.

She is married to the American former cross-country skier Justin Wadsworth. They have two children, Teo and Brynn.

Sylvia Burka is a former ice speed skater and track cyclist from Canada of Latvian descent. She represented Canada at three consecutive Winter Olympics, starting in 1972 in Sapporo, Japan. She never won an Olympic medal, with her best Olympic result being the fourth place in 1000 m in 1976.

Christine Girard is a Canadian weightlifter from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. She competes in the 63 kg division. Girard was the first Canadian female to win a medal in weightlifting when she won gold at the 2012 London Olympics. She also won Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games titles in her weight class and has won multiple medals in each of those competitions. She holds the Commonwealth games record and the Pan-American Games record in the Clean and Jerk.
Michelle Stilwell is a Canadian athlete and politician. She represented Canada at four Summer Paralympic Games, as well as the 2015 Parapan American Games. She competed in wheelchair basketball before becoming a wheelchair racer, and is the only female Paralympic athlete to win gold medals in two separate summer sport events.
Kathy Butler is a long-distance runner who competes in the 10,000 metres and marathon, as well as cross country running and road running. Born in Scotland, she has competed internationally for both Great Britain and Canada.
Mark Berger is a Ukrainian-born Canadian judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's heavyweight judo event at the 1983 Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He also competed in sambo, winning silver at the 1988 World Championships.
Theresa Brick is a Canadian weightlifter, competing in the 75 kg category and representing Canada at international competitions. She competed at world championships, most recently at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships. She also represented Canada as a discus thrower.
Howard Kelsey is a former Canadian basketball player and two-time Olympian. He is one of only four athletes to be named to the Canada men's national basketball team immediately out of high school. Over the course of 11 years (1977-88), Kelsey represented Canada in many tournaments in over 400 total games, including two Olympics ; three FIBA World Championships; and two FISU World University Games, where Canada won gold in 1983.
