Susirith Mendis is a Sri Lankan physician and academic. He was the Vice-Chancellor of University of Ruhuna for six years and was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. He is a Professor of Physiology and founder Director of the Staff Development Centre. [1]

The Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Tissamaharama,Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It was one of the four major Buddhist monasteries established in Sri Lanka,after the arrival of Arhant Mahinda Thera to the country. The site of the Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara was consecrated by Buddha himself,who spent some time in meditation there with 500 arhats,during his third visit to the island. Tissamaharama monastery had been recognized as a pre-eminent Buddhist educational center of the southern Sri Lanka from the 3rd century B.C. to the 11th century A.D. The Tissamaharama Dagoba which is situated in the premises of the monastery is one of the largest stupas in Sri Lanka. The present chief incumbent of Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara is Ven. Devalegama Dhammasena Nayaka Thera.
Parākramabāhu I,or Parakramabahu the Great,was the king of Polonnaruwa from 1153 to 1186. He oversaw the expansion and beautification of his capital,constructed extensive irrigation systems,reorganised the country's army,reformed Buddhist practices,encouraged the arts and undertook military campaigns in South India and Burma. The adage,"Not even a drop of water that comes from the rain must flow into the ocean without being made useful to man" is one of his most famous utterances."
Vikramabahu was a medieval king of Sri Lanka. Following the death of his father in 1029,Vikramabahu led the resistance movement against the Chola invaders of the country,ruling from the southern principality of Ruhuna from 1029 to 1041. He spent a number of years building up his forces to drive out the Chola,but died before he could launch his military campaign.
Vijayabahu I,also known as Vijayabahu the Great,was a medieval king of Sri Lanka. Born to a royal bloodline,Vijayabahu grew up under Chola occupation. He assumed rulership of the Ruhuna principality in the southern parts of the country in 1055. Following a seventeen-year-long campaign,he successfully drove the Cholas out of the island in 1070,reuniting the country for the first time in over a century. During his reign,he re-established Buddhism in Sri Lanka and repaired much of the damage caused to infrastructure during the wars. He offered the Thihoshin Pagoda(Lord of Sri Lanka Buddha image) to Burma king Alaungsithu and it is now still in Pakokku.
Vikramabâhu I was a medieval king of Sri Lanka. He was the son of king Vijayabahu I and the Queen Thilokasundari who was a Kalinga princess. He was the "Mapa"("Maha Arya Pada" or prince successor) who ruled the Ruhuna on behalf of the king during king Jayabâhu I's reign.
Ruhuna cricket team was one of the five provincial cricket teams that took part in Sri Lankan Inter-Provincial Tournament,representing Southern Province. The Ruhuna cricket team was based in Galle. It drew cricketers from Sri Lanka Premier Trophy. Team colors were Red and Blue. Ruhuna cricket team took part in all three provincial tournaments:the first-class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament,the List A competition known as the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20.

Mahinda V was King of Anuradhapura in the 11th century. He was the last king of the Anuradhapura Kingdom as well as from the House of Lambakanna II. In 993,he fled to Ruhuna,the southern part of the country,following a large scale mutiny by his army. A Chola invasion led by Rajaraja Chola I captured Anuradhapura taking advantage of the 11 year civil war and subsequent turmoil that happened after Anuradhapura fell into anarchy. He was later taken prisoner and taken to India,where he died as a prisoner in 1029. The Mahavamsa records that the rule of Mahinda V was weak and he was unable to even organize the collecting of taxes. The country was in a state of extreme poverty and his army refused to follow orders due to lack of wages.

The 2007–08 SLC Super Provincial Twenty20 is the 1st season of the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. Six teams in total,five representing four provinces of Sri Lanka and a Sri Lanka Schools XI team participating in the competition. The competition began on 17 April 2008,when Basnahira North elevens played the Wayamba elevens at Colts Cricket Club Ground,Colombo.

The 2010–11 Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament will be the third season of the official Limited overs domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. It will be a shorter tournament compared to the previous one with only 13 matches,and all group matches being held at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground and all three finals at the newly upgraded R. Premadasa Stadium also in Colombo. This edition featured the Uva cricket team's debut in the limited overs tournament of the Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament,having previously featured in the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament. This season also saw the introduction of the Basnahira cricket team with the merger of Basnahira North and Basnahira South cricket teams. It will be the first time that the five teams represent five different provinces in the tournament.

The competition began on 6 February 2010 when Ruhuna elevens played the Sri Lanka Cricket Combined XI at Galle International Stadium,in Galle.
The 2011 SLC Super Provincial Twenty20 was the 4th and final season of the SLC Super Provincial Twenty20,the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Sri Lanka. The tournament was scheduled as a replacement for the 2011 Sri Lanka Premier League,which was postponed to 2012. As such,the tournament had a different format from previous seasons,featuring five teams,instead of six,and was held sometime between 21 and 31 July 2011. The Sri Lanka Premier League replaced the SLC Super Provincial Twenty20.
