TV6 Latvia (Latvian : TV6 Latvija) is an entertainment television channel broadcasting to Latvia featuring series, music, fashion and sports. It was launched on April 22, 2007. [1] The programmes broadcast on the channel include The Simpsons , United States of Tara , Las Vegas , Harper's Island , American Idol , Survivor , My name is Earl , Family Guy , Shark , CSI: Miami , The Office , Sex and the City and more.

The name, logo and graphics were borrowed from the Swedish channel of the same name, but their content differs somewhat as TV6 Sweden has a more male skew and doesn't carry fashion or music programming.

TV6 Latvia also broadcasts sports content: currently it is the official broadcaster of the UEFA European Championship, matches of the Latvia national football and basketball teams, UEFA European competitions (e.g. the UEFA Champions League etc.) in 2019 moved to sport channel. Previously, the channel also broadcast matches of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships before the rights passed on the rivals LTV7 in 2017. [2]

TV6, as with other channels of the All Media Baltics group in the Baltic states, switched to HD broadcasting on 26 July 2018. [3]

SuperSport is a South Africa-based Pan-Africa group of television channels carried on the DStv & Canal+ satellite platforms as well as GOtv terrestrial platform. It provides sports content in South Africa, Nigeria and many other African countries.

C More Entertainment AB is a pay television company that previously operated as Canal+. It targets Nordic countries and has a separate channel in Sweden.

Latvijas Televīzija Latvian public television broadcaster

Latvijas Televīzija is the state-owned public service television broadcaster in Latvia. LTV operates two channels, LTV1 in Latvian and LTV7 in Latvian with selected programming in Russian.

TV6 (Sweden)

TV6 is a Swedish television channel broadcasting owned by Nordic Entertainment Group. It has origins in the youth channel ZTV that started broadcasting in the early 1990s. In 2004, MTG started repositioning the channel by introducing sports broadcasts and other programming that mainly targeted men.

TV6 (Lithuania)

TV6 is a Lithuanian terrestrial, satellite and cable television channel owned by the Nordic television company Viasat. It was launched on March 31, 2002.

Television in Latvia was first tested in 1937 and introduced in 1954. Latvia was the first country in the Baltic States which started broadcasting.

V Sport is the common brand of several sports channels targeting the Nordic countries, owned by Nordic Entertainment Group. The brand has been introduced in June 2020, replacing the former brands Viasat Sport and Viasport. Its main competitors are C More Sport and Eurosport.

Latvian Independent Television was a major private television company in Latvia, founded in 1996. LNT featured TV series, news and entertainment programmes, airing 24 hours a day in Latvian. It went off the air on March 1, 2020, and was replaced by TV3 Life.

TV3 (Latvia) Latvian television channel

TV3 Latvia is a Latvian commercial television channel targeted at a Latvian language audience owned by All Media Baltics, a company owned by investment firm Providence Equity Partners. TV3 was launched in 1998, but did not receive a terrestrial license until 2001. The channel has since increased its viewing share to become the most popular channel in Latvia as of September 2007, surpassing its then-closest rival LNT.

V Sport is a group of Swedish sports channels owned by Nordic Entertainment Group, broadcasting from the United Kingdom and constituting a part of the pan-Nordic V Sport offering. The Swedish V Sport channels except V Sport Motor and V Sport Extra are also distributed in Finland.

Latvia is one of the three post-Soviet Baltic states having regained independence in 1991 and since 2004 is a member State of the European Union. After its independence there have been fundamental changes of political, economic and social nature that have turned Latvia into a democratic country with a free market economy. This reflects on the mass media landscape which is considered well-developed despite being subjected to a limited market and a linguistic and cultural split between Latvian (58.2%) and Russian speakers (37.5%). In 2017 Freedom House defined Latvia's press freedom status as “free", assigning to the country's press freedom a score of 26/100. The 2017 World Press Freedom Index prepared annually by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) states that media in Latvia have a "two-speed freedom", underlying different levels of freedom for Latvian-language and Russian-language media. According to RSF's Index the country is ranked 28th among 180 countries.

TV 2 Sport, currently stylized as TV 2 SPORT 1 and TV 2 SPORT 2, is a Norwegian channel, formerly Pay-TV, that shows sports. The channel is spread out over 2 different channels, named TV 2 Sport 1 and TV 2 Sport 2, earlier TV2 Sport 1-5. It heavily features football, including broadcasting of the Norwegian top division for several years. This channel also broadcasts international matches, such as the Premier League. It also broadcast four 2010 World Cup matches.

TV3 Sport (Baltics) Television channel available in Baltic states

TV3 Sport is a TV sports channel available in the Baltic States. The channel was launched 7 January 2009 as Viasat Sport Baltic. Along with Viasat Golf it replaced Viasat Sport 2 and Viasat Sport 3 for viewers on the Viasat platform in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Teleclub

Blue+, founded in 1982 in Switzerland, is one of the longest established Pay TV broadcasters in Europe. At present time the service is only available in Switzerland. Teleclub provides their services as a stand-alone product through the Swiss DVB-C Television Network via a self-branded Set-top box called "Teleclub Digital Receiver" and a viewing card which is a CI+ NDS VideoGuard Smart Card The two types available are the Kaon and ADB Set Top Boxes, Teleclub also provides their service through alongside other Cable Television and IPTV platforms with exclusive packages for each TV service. In Switzerland Teleclub has agreements with UPC Cablecom and Swisscom TV. Teleclub also provides Video On Demand services exclusively to the Swisscom TV service.

2+2 (TV channel) Ukrainian TV channel

2+2 is a national Ukrainian-language TV channel, owned by the 1+1 Media Group. Its program content is mainly aimed at a male audience, targeting a core age group of 25–44.

beIN Sports is a global network of sports channels owned and operated by the Qatari media group beIN. It has played a major role in the increased commercialization of Qatari sports. Its chairman is Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and its CEO is Yousef Obaidly.

Public Broadcasting of Latvia

Public Broadcasting of Latvia is a publicly funded radio and television organization operated by both of Latvia's public broadcasters – Latvian Television and Radio Latvia. LSM provides news, analysis, culture, entertainment and new experimental content, produced mainly by Latvian Television and Radio Latvia, and by the portal’s editorial personnel. The site was launched on 3 February 2013. LSM content is also available in Russian and English. News content in English was made available from 1 July 2014.
