The T K Group of Industries is a Bangladeshi industrial Conglomerate known for its vegetable oil business. [2] [3] It also has interests in steel, shipbuilding, pulp and paper, plastics, cement, and textiles. [4] The conglomerate is headquartered in Chittagong. The group is one of the top VAT payers in the country. [5]

History

T. K. Group of Industries was established in 1972 as a trading company by two brothers, Mohammed Abu Tayab, and Mohammad Abul Kalam. [6] The brothers started the business with a two thousand taka grant from their father. [7] It is the largest producer of edible oil products in the country. [8] The annual turnover of the group is over US$ 5 billion.

Sheltech (Pvt.) Ltd. is a real estate company based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which was founded in 1988. It is a multi-disciplinary firm engaged in various activities, including real estate development, consultancy. It has three chains of boutique hotels named Platinum Suites, Platinum Residence and Platinum Grand. It has constructed over 3700 apartments in Dhaka.

Obaidul Karim is a Bangladeshi businessman and the founder and chairman of Orion Group. He is the president of sporting club Mohammedan SC Limited. He was indicted in many corruption charges and sentenced to 5 years, 13 years, and lifetime imprisonment on different corruption cases.

Orion Group is one of the largest Bangladeshi industrial conglomerates. Advanced Chemical Industries, more commonly marketed and known as ACI, is a Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals and conglomerate company founded in 1973. The firm is headquartered in the thana of Tejgaon I/A, in Dhaka. ACI is one of the leading firms in the pharmaceuticals and chemical industry of Bangladesh.

City Group is one of the largest Bangladeshi conglomerates. It began on 6 February 1972 as a mustard oil company venture under the name City Oil Mills. The first project of City Oil Mills turned out to be very successful. After then, the company grew very quickly. It presently owns more than 25 major concerns located throughout Bangladesh. Bangladesh is an important tea-producing country. It is the 12th largest tea producer in the world. Its tea industry dates back to British rule, when the East India Company initiated the tea trade in the hills of the Sylhet region. In addition to that, tea cultivation was introduced to Greater Chittagong in 1840. Today, the country has 166 commercial tea estates, including many of the world's largest working plantations. The industry accounts for 3% of global tea production, and employs more than 4 million people.
