Tampereen Palloilijat or TaPa is a Finnish football club, based in Tampere. In the past club also played ice hockey, they participated to first ever Finnish championship in 1928. In 1931 they won Finnish ice hockey championship.

Football

TaPa was founded in 1921. They have played five seasons in the Finnish top tier. Tampereen Palloilijat were founding member of Finnish FA Häme district. In 1924 club members build the first grass pitch of inner Finland to Kaleva district in Tampere, in opening match they won HIFK 3–2. [1] In 1969 it merged with Tampellan Pallo and changed club name to Tampellan Palloilijat, Tampellan Pallo was founded only year before as a merger of Tampellan Terä and Tampereen Kalevan Pallo-Pojat. In 1974 they combined with Ilves Tampere together with Ilves-Kissat and Ilves continued as a leading club of Tampere. Ilves was founded in 1931 but played most of its history in the district level. [2] Tampereen Palloilijat continued later on from lower levels.

Nasib was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985, as number 15.

Marika Johanna Lehtimäki is a Finnish retired ice hockey player and former member of the Finnish national ice hockey team. She played 83 international matches with the national team and was on the bronze medal winning rosters in the women's tournament at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 1990, 1992, and 1994. With the Finnish national team she also won four IIHF European Championship medals, three gold and one bronze.

Niilo Rudolf Tammisalo was an influential figure in Finnish sports in the first half of the 20th century. Räshid Hakimsan was a Finnish ice hockey player and referee who played in SM-Sarja during 1951–1960 and won the Finnish Championship four times. Sports writer Martti Huhtamäki called Hakimsan one of the "big favorites" of local hockey crowds of his time. After his playing career and until 1974, Hakimsan operated as a hockey referee of international status. He was also among the most active referees of his time in Finland and was awarded afterwards.

The 1982–83 Naisten SM-sarja season was the first season of the Naisten SM-sarja, the premier league of women's ice hockey in Finland. The inaugural Finnish Champions in women's ice hockey were HJK Helsinki, winners of the 1983 Naisten SM-sarja final tournament. Finnish Championship silver was won by Ilves Tampere and bronze by EVU Vantaa.

Kimmo Leinonen is a Finnish ice hockey executive and writer. He was the director of public relations and marketing for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) from 1995 to 2007, and held similar positions for SM-liiga and Ilves. He served as general secretary of the 2012 and 2013 Ice Hockey World Championships co-hosted in Finland and Sweden. He also coached junior ice hockey for Ilves, managed the Ilves Naiset who won three Naisten SM-sarja championships, was a scout for the New York Rangers, and a sports commentator for hockey broadcasts in Finland.
