Tagrin Point

Tagrin Point is the proposed location of a deep water port to replace the older and shallower port of Port Pepel in Sierra Leone. It would be connected to existing and new iron ore mined by an upgraded railway line converted to standard gauge. [1]

The Mauritania Railway is the national railway of Mauritania. Construction of the line began in 1960, with it opening in 1963. It consists of a single, 704-kilometre (437 mi) railway line linking the iron mining centre of Zouerate with the port of Nouadhibou, via Fderik and Choum. The state agency Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière controls the railway line.

Tonkolili District is a district in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. Its capital and largest city is Magburaka. The other major towns include Masingbi, Yele, Mile 91, Bumbuna, Yonibana, Matotoka. Mathora, Magbass and Masanga. Tonkolili District is home to the largest sugar factory in Sierra Leone, and one of the largest sugar factories in West Africa, that is located in the town of Magbass. Tonkolili District had a population of 530,776. The district occupies a total area of 7,003 km2 (2,704 sq mi) and comprises eleven chiefdoms.

Marampa Mines is the site of an hematite iron ore mine based in the town of Lunsar, Port Loko District, Sierra Leone.

Rokel River

The Rokel River is the largest river in the Republic of Sierra Leone in West Africa. The river basin measures 10,622 square kilometres (4,101 sq mi) in size, with the drainage divided by the Gbengbe and Kabala hills and the Sula Mountains. The estuary which extends over an area of 2,950 square kilometres (1,140 sq mi) became a Ramsar wetland site of importance in 1999.

Kissy, Sierra Leone Place in Western Area, Sierra Leone

Kissy is a neighborhood on the eastern end of the capital Freetown in Sierra Leone. It is also home to numerous health services, including a United Methodist Church Health and Maternity ward as well as Kissy Mental Hospital. It is also home to over 500 Liberian refugees. The Kissy Road Church of the Holy Trinity is located in Kissy Village and it should not be confused with the Church of the Holy Trinity on Kissy Road which in 1999 was completely burned down by RUF rebel forces. A restoration plan was put in place to restore that church and the building has been restored. The church on Kissy Road also ran a school.

Lunsar Place in Northern Province, Sierra Leone

Lunsar is a town in Marampa Chiefdom, Port Loko District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone. It is the largest town in Port Loko District by population. The Britannica estimate of the population of Lunsar is 36,108. The town is one of the main commercial and business hub in the North of Sierra Leone. Lunsar lies approximately 50 miles east of Freetown and about 18 miles south-east of the district capital of Port Loko. The inhabitants of Lunsar are largely from the Temne ethnic group.

The Transguinean Railways is a proposed set of heavy duty standard gauge railways in Guinea to support heavy duty haulage of primarily iron ore and bauxite.

Kalia is one of two towns in Guinea with this name. This is the one in Faranah Prefecture. It is east of the capital Conakry near Faranah and near to the border with Sierra Leone.

There are 84 kilometres of railway in Sierra Leone, all of which is private and of a narrow gauge, 1,067 mm.

Tonkolele is a town in the mountains of central Sierra Leone.

Kongo is a small town in western Liberia on the border with Sierra Leone. It serves an iron ore mine, with a narrow gauge railway, which are currently out of use. There are similar iron ore deposits across the Mana River which forms the border.
