Takawira Rural District Council is rural local authority created under the Rural District Councils Act Chapter 29.13 as provided by the constitution. [1] It is bestored with wide ranging administrative and legislative powers over their respective jurisdictions through this Act.

It is Chirumhanzu Rural District authority. Chirumhanzu District is rural with Mvuma being the only urban setup in the District.

Background

Chirumanzu Rural District Council was established through Proclamation No. 1 of 1993 which amalgamated Takawira District Council and Charter Rural Council and established new boundaries for the district.

Chirumhanzu Rural District Council has the communal area, the resettlement area and three urban areas, Mvuma, Lalapanzi and Charandura under its jurisdiction.

The three urbanized centers do not have town councils. Instead Chirumhanzu RDC now officially called Takawira RDC has set committees to run the three centers;

Lalapanzi Area Committee;

Charandura Area Committee.

The district comprises twenty five wards; that is 12 in the communal area, 3 in Mvuma, 1 in Lalapanzi and 9 in resettlement areas. [2]

Operations

Takawira RDC comprises Chirumanzu Constituency and the greater part of Chirumanzu-Zibagwe Constituency.

Chirumanzu Cinstituency covers 13 wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,21, 23 and 25. Chirumanzu-Zibagwe Constituency covers twelve of Takawira RDC wards; 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22 and 24. However Chirumanzu-Zibagwe Constituency overlaps into Kwekwe Rural District Council taking wards 1, 2 and 31, these include Marivale, Sebakwe Recreational and Munyati respectively. These 3 wards were previously in Zhombe Constituency.

Midlands Province Province in Zimbabwe

Midlands is a province of Zimbabwe. It has an area of 49,166 square kilometres (18,983 sq mi) and a population of 1,614,941 (2012). It is home to various peoples. Located at a central point in the country, it contains speakers of Shona, Ndebele, Tswana, Sotho and Chewa, as well as of various other languages. Zhombe is a rural communal area in Kwekwe District, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. It is an area of mixed Shona and Northern Ndebele People. It lies along the Mnyathi border line between Midlands and Mashonaland Provinces. There are a few commercial farms within its borders and a handful of resettlement areas. Most of it is within the Zhombe Constituency. Its administrative centre is the Zhombe Joel Growth Point, and it is under the Zibagwe Rural District Council.

Peterborough City Council Local authority in England

Peterborough City Council is the local authority for Peterborough in the East of England. It is a unitary authority, having the powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council combined. Zibagwe RDC

Zibagwe Rural District Council is a rural local government arm in Kwekwe District created under the Rural District Councils Act: Chapter 20.13. It was formed from the amalgamation of the former Kwekwe Rural Council and the Mashambazhou District Council in 1993. An RDC is the administrative equivalent of an urban town council, but for a rural area.

Silobela is a constituency in the House of Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. It is in Kwekwe District of the Midlands Province.

Chirumanzu–Zibagwe is a constituency of the House of Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in the Chirumhanzu District in Midlands Province. Mvuma, a small mining town, is one of the largest commercial centers in the constituency. The constituency was created in 2008 from the old Chirumanzu and Zhombe constituencies. Emmerson Mnangagwa, now the President of Zimbabwe, was the inaugural member, followed by his wife, Auxillia Mnangagwa. Its current Member of Parliament is Prosper Machando (ZANU–PF).

Redcliff is a parliamentary constituency in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe created out of Kwekwe constituency prior to the 2008 general election. It comprises Redcliff town, Ripple Creek and Komera. It also covers parts of Silobela such as St Marks, Totololo, Loreto, Gothic Mine and Hozoli. East of the Harare-Bulawayo Road it takes up to Shungu and Mlezu in Chiwundura. It is administered by Redcliff Municipality. However, five of its wards are under Zibagwe Rural District Council: 22, 23, 24 and 30, and parts of ward 3.

Vungu Rural District Council is a local government arm overseeing the Gweru Rural District. It was created in terms of the Zimbabwe Rural District Councils Act; Chapter 29.13. Its capital is Gweru in Zimbabwe.

Gokwe North Rural District Council

Gokwe North Rural District Councils is a local government organ administering Gokwe North District. There are eight Rural District Councils in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe all established in terms of the Zimbabwe Rural District Councils Act; Chapter 29.13.

Gokwe South Rural District Council

Gokwe South Rural District Council is the rural district local authority in Gokwe South District. Gokwe South District has two local government arms, Gokwe Town Council created under the Zimbabwe Urban Councils Act, Chapter 29.15 administering Gokwe Urban, and Gokwe RDC created in terms of the Zimbabwe Rural District Councils Act, Chapter 29.13 overseeing the rural Gokwe South District in Zimbabwe.

Mberengwa Rural District Council

Mberengwa Rural District Council is the rural district local authority over Mberengwa District. It is one of the 8 rural district councils in the Midlands Province, established in terms of the Zimbabwe Rural District Councils Act; Chapter 29.13.

Runde Rural District Council is Zvishavane Rural District local government arm taking care of the rural district while Zvishavane Town Council administers the urban district.

Chirumhanzu District is a Second-order Administrative Sub-division of Midlands (Zimbabwe) between Gweru and Masvingo.
