He was chairman of the Union and Progress Party, which operated a one-party dictatorship in the Empire; during World War I he became Grand Vizier. He has been called the architect of the Armenian genocide, and was responsible for other ethnic cleansings during his time as Minister of Interior Affairs.

As of August 2001, that mark was the 126th best pole vault of all time. He represented France in pole vaulting 25 times between 1973 and 1985.

Abada, also known as Bada or Ibada, was the name given to a female Indian rhinoceros kept by the Portuguese kings Sebastian I and Henry I from 1577 to 1580 and by Philip II of Spain from about 1580 to 1588. She was the first rhinoceros seen in Europe since the one sent as a present from the King of Portugal, Manuel I, to Pope Leo X in 1515, who died in a shipwreck off the coast of Italy in early 1516, immortalised as Dürer's Rhinoceros.

Shadi Talaat is an Egyptian sabre fencer. Talaat represented Egypt at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed in two sabre events. For his first event, the men's individual sabre, Talaat lost the first preliminary round match to Belarus' Valery Pryiemka, with a score of 7–15. Few days later, he joined teammates Tamim Ghazy, Gamal Fathy, and Mahmoud Samir for the men's team sabre. Talaat and his team, however, lost the seventh place match to the Hungarian team, with a total score of 25 touches.
