Talaat Guenidi (born 26 November 1943) is an Egyptian basketball player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1972 Summer Olympics. [1]

He was arrested on September 2, 2008 and found guilty on May 21, 2009 for his involvement in the murder of Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim, but his sentence to death by hanging was overturned on a legal technicality. Following a retrial in 2010, he was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment. Moustafa was released after 9 years on June 23, 2017 after receiving a presidential pardon.

Shadi Talaat is an Egyptian sabre fencer. Talaat represented Egypt at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed in two sabre events. For his first event, the men's individual sabre, Talaat lost the first preliminary round match to Belarus' Valery Pryiemka, with a score of 7–15. Few days later, he joined with his fellow fencers and teammates Tamim Ghazy, Gamal Fathy, and Mahmoud Samir for the men's team sabre. Talaat and his team, however, lost the seventh place match to the Hungarian team, with a total score of 25 touches.

The Refugee Olympic Team competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016, as independent Olympic participants. In March 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach declared that the IOC would choose five to ten refugees to compete at the Rio Olympics, in the context of the "worldwide refugee crisis", of which the European migrant crisis is a prominent part. The athletes competed under the Olympic Flag. Initially, they were labeled "Team of Refugee Olympic Athletes", with the IOC country code ROA, but this was updated to Refugee Olympic Team with the country code ROT.

As of 2018 there hitherto had been no recent biographies of Talaat, nor of Enver Pasha, in western European languages. The book discusses the author's thesis that Talaat was co-Father of the Nation to modern Turkey along with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as Talaat's rule and significance.
