In a fantasy version of 10th-century Scotland, as previously foretold ("Anstruther’s Dark Prophecy"), the evil wizard Zargothrax invades and conquers Dundee with an army of corrupted undead unicorns ("The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee"), kidnapping the princess Iona McDougall. The prince of the Kingdom of Fife, Angus McFife, swears revenge ("Angus McFife"); in a dream, he has a vision of three artifacts that will allow him to defeat Zargothrax, and sets off on a quest to acquire them.
McFife first battles north to obtain a magical war hammer ("Quest for the Hammer of Glory,") then travels to Strathclyde to acquire a golden dragon as his steed ("Magic Dragon"). Inspired by memories of McDougall, who is imprisoned by Zargothrax in a prison of ice ("Silent Tears of Frozen Princess,") McFife rides his dragon to Loch Rannoch and retrieves the Amulet of Justice from its depths ("Amulet of Justice"), completing his quest for the three artifacts.
Allying with the powerful Knights of Crail ("Hail to Crail"), McFife travels through Cowdenbeath ("Beneath Cowdenbeath") to confront Zargothrax in his stronghold. As the Knights battle the wizard's forces in the fields of Dunfermline, McFife and the Barbarian Warrior of Unst sneak into the castle through dwarven tunnels, aided by the hermit Ralathor ("The Epic Rage of Furious Thunder"). Meeting Zargothrax in single combat, McFife defeats the wizard and casts him into a frozen pool of "liquid ice." He then uses the Amulet of Justice to free the princess and the unicorns, restoring balance to the Kingdom of Fife.

Ed Greenwood is a Canadian fantasy writer and the creator of the Forgotten Realms game world. He began writing articles about the Forgotten Realms for Dragon magazine beginning in 1979, and subsequently sold the rights to the setting to TSR, the creators of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game, in 1986. He has written many Forgotten Realms novels, as well as numerous articles and D&D game supplement books.

The Flight of Dragons is a 1982 animated fantasy film produced and directed by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. loosely combining the speculative natural history book of the same name (1979) by Peter Dickinson with the novel The Dragon and the George (1976) by Gordon R. Dickson. It stars the voices of John Ritter, Victor Buono, James Gregory, James Earl Jones, and Harry Morgan. The film centers upon a quest undertaken to stop an evil wizard who plans to rule the world by dark magic. A major theme within the story is the question of whether science and magic can co-exist. This is told mostly through the experience of character Peter Dickinson, drawn from the 20th century into the magical realm.
HeroQuest, is an adventure board game created by Milton Bradley in conjunction with the British company Games Workshop in 1989, and re-released in 2021. The game is loosely based around archetypes of fantasy role-playing games: the game itself was actually a game system, allowing the gamemaster to create dungeons of their own design using the provided game board, tiles, furnishings and figures. The game manual describes Morcar/Zargon as a former apprentice of Mentor, and the parchment text is read aloud from Mentor's perspective. Several expansions have been released, each adding new tiles, traps, artifacts, and monsters to the core system.
Dragonslayer is a 1981 American dark fantasy film directed by Matthew Robbins from a screenplay he co-wrote with Hal Barwood. It stars Peter MacNicol, Ralph Richardson, John Hallam, and Caitlin Clarke. It was a co-production between Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions, where Paramount handled North American distribution and Disney handled international distribution through Buena Vista International. A mercat cross is the Scots name for the market cross found frequently in Scottish cities, towns and villages where historically the right to hold a regular market or fair was granted by the monarch, a bishop or a baron. Thomas Laszlo Winkler is a Swiss singer. He is known for being the vocalist of power metal band Angus McSix and former vocalist of power metal band Gloryhammer from 2011 to 2021, playing the roles of "Angus McFife, Prince of the Land of Fife" and his descendant "Angus McFife XIII" in the band's internal story.
Gloryhammer is a British power metal band founded by keyboardist Christopher Bowes, lead vocalist of the band Alestorm. Each member of the band represents a character in the story concept. Band members appears on stage in armour and costumes to represent their respective characters.
Nanowar of Steel is an Italian comedy heavy metal band. Their name is a pun on the metal bands Manowar and Rhapsody of Fire, and represents their tendency to satirize "true metal", the primary focus of their music. Their work mainly aims to make humorous references to and jokes about the genre, often parodying the way in which power metal bands are perceived to take themselves very seriously.
Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards is the second studio album by British power metal band Gloryhammer. It was released on September 25, 2015. The deluxe edition contains an additional disc of orchestral renditions of the full album, with alternate titles. It reached number 18 in the UK Rock & Metal Charts.
Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex is the third studio album by British power metal band Gloryhammer. It was released on 31 May 2019. It is the final album to feature vocalist Thomas Winkler.
