Tamāra Dauniene (born 22 September 1951) is a Latvian former basketball player who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics. [1]

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one or more one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated.

Tamara Ivanovna Manina is a retired Soviet Olympic gymnast and a sports scientist.

Marianne Werner, is a retired West German athlete who competed mainly in the shot put events. She was born in Dülmen. Werner competed for West Germany at the 1952 Summer Olympics, held in Helsinki, Finland, in the Women's Shot Put, where she won the silver medal. Four years later she returned with the United Team of Germany to Melbourne for the 1956 Summer Olympics where she won the bronze medal one place behind Soviet Galina Zybina for the second Olympics and eventual winner, another Soviet Tamara Tyshkevich.

Tamara McKinney is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. She won four World Cup season titles, most notably the 1983 overall, the only American woman to hold that title for a quarter century, until Lindsey Vonn in 2008. McKinney's other three season titles were in giant slalom and slalom (1984). She was a world champion in the combined event in 1989, her final year of competition. Her half-brother Steve McKinney was a record holding speed skier.

Tamara Larrea Peraza is a female beach volleyball player from Cuba, who won the gold medal in the women's beach team competition at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, partnering Dalixia Fernández. She represented her native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 2000 in Sydney, Australia.

Irina Nikolayevna Vorobieva is a Russian pair skater who competed for the Soviet Union. With partner and then-husband Igor Lisovsky, she is the 1981 World champion and the 1981 European champion. They were coached by Tamara Moskvina.

Carlos José Tamara Paternina is a Colombian professional boxer, who participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics. There he was defeated in the second round by Italy's Alfonso Pinto in the Light Flyweight (48 kg) division. A year earlier he won the silver medal at the Pan American Games.

Alexander Yevgenyevich Gavrilov is a Russian pair skater who competed internationally for the Soviet Union. With partner Tatiana Zhuk, he is the World bronze medalist and the 1963 & 1964 European bronze medalist. They placed 5th at the 1964 Winter Olympics. He also competed one season with Tamara Moskvina, winning the 1965 Soviet Championships.

Tamara Téglássy is a Hungarian former competitive figure skater. She is an eight-time Hungarian national champion (1984–1991) and competed at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. She finished in the top ten at four European Championships. Her best world result, 11th, came at the 1988 and 1990 World Championships. She was a member of the Budapest Spartacus Sport Club.

Tamara Vega Arroyo is a Mexican modern pentathlete. She was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the women's competition, finishing in 36th (last) place but improved to 11th in 2016.

Tamara Alekseyevna Lyukhina-Zamotaylova is a former Soviet gymnast who won four Olympic medals at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics.

Tamara Anne Hazleton is an American former competition swimmer who represented the United States as a 16-year-old at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She competed in the preliminary heats of the women's 200-meter breaststroke and recorded a time of 2:55.0.

The Soviet Union women's national gymnastics team represented the Soviet Union in FIG international competitions. They were the dominant force in the sport from the 1950s until the Soviet Union's collapse. They lead the medal tally for women's artistic gymnastics with 88 medals including 33 gold. Larisa Latynina is also the most decorated female athlete at the Olympic games with a total of 18 medals.
