The Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Film Portraying Woman in Good Light is given by the state government as part of its annual Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Tamil (Kollywood) films. The award was first given in 1994. [1] This award category was suggested by Sengottuvelan, former judge of the Madras High Court and Chairman of the State Women's Commission. [2] The Award was discontinued post 2008, but revived on 2015 with Suriya's 36 Vayathinile Win.

This award was last given in the year 2015 to Jyothika for 36 Vayadhinile.
