Dr. Tan Loke Mun is the founder and Director of ArchiCentre Sdn. Bhd, [1] DTLM Design Group and principal of DrTanLM Architect, architectural design studios in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. [2] He is best known for having designed the first Green Building Index Platinum rated house in Malaysia, the S11 House. [3]

Biography

Born and raised in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, Tan obtained his architectural training from Deakin University, Australia during the 1980s. He later received his doctorate from The University of Melbourne, Australia. His doctoral studies were in social and self-help housing and he has worked in many urban and rural parts of Australia, Uruguay, and Argentina. [4]

He founded ArchiCentre in 1994. [5]

He is a past president of the Malaysian Institute of Architects 2005-2007 (PAM), [6] team leader who set up Green Building Index Malaysia (GBI), past chairman of the LAM-PAM Green Building and Sustainability Committee, past member of the GBI Accreditation Panel (GBIAP) and also a member of the Board of Architects Malaysia. The S11 House [8] is Malaysia’s first Green Building Index Platinum-rated work for domestic architecture. It won the Tropical Building Category of the ASEAN Energy Awards in 2013, the Futurarc Green Leadership Award 2012, Gold medal in the Edge-PAM Green Home Award 2011, Gold Medal for the PAM-Edge Residential Award 2011, Winner of PAM Architectural Steel Colourbond Award 2011, Gold winner for Residential and Sustainable Categories of Asia Pacific Design Excellence Awards 2011 and Finalist for World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2012. The S11 House while not the firm's largest project, it has been one of the firm's biggest ideological successes. [9]

The LRT Kelana Jaya Line is a medium-capacity light rapid transit (LRT) line and the first fully automated and driverless rail system in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd is the operator of the rapid transit (metro) system serving Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley area in Malaysia. BEP Akitek Sdn Bhd is an architectural firm based in Malaysia. Ralph Booty & Sidney James set up their practice in Singapore in 1910 and began the Booty Edwards & Partners firm on September 7, 1923. Ralph Booty had previously operated the firm Ralph Booty and Co. The new firm was first called Booty and Edwards.Arthur Oakley Coltman bought the firm in 1930. It was later called Booty, Edwards & Partners and the firm operated with offices in Colombo, Penang as well as Kuala Lumpur. In 1969 the firm was renamed BEP Akitek Sdn Bhd, the name it still carries. A major event in the firm's early history is when it won an architectural competition for the design of Colombo’s Town Hall and Municipal Offices, held in 1922. The Town Hall remains an imposing landmark in Colombo city. On May 24, 1924, the foundation stone was laid to build this magnificent building to house the Municipal Council of the country's principal city.

Dato’ Seri Nik Mohamed bin Nik Mahmood is a Director of Kumpulan Senireka Sdn Bhd., a large commercial architecture firm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mahmood founded the firm in 1973 after he left the Public Works Department. The firm specializes in commercial highrise buildings, and they have done some significant religious buildings. In the 1970s they were operating in the Brutalist idiom, but they turned to Postmodernism at the end of the century and were responsible for some prominent postmodern buildings in Malaysia, including the Menara Axis, 2002, Istana Negara Baru and the Kompleks Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka.

S11 House is a residential building in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It was the country's first Green Building Index Platinum rated house, and won the Tropical Building Category of the Asean Energy Awards in 2013.

The Klang Valley Integrated Transit System is an integrated transport network that primarily serves the area of Klang Valley and Greater Kuala Lumpur. The system commenced operations in August 1995 with the introduction of commuter rail service on the existing rail between Kuala Lumpur and Rawang. Ar. Sarly Adre Sarkum is an architecture futurist, sustainability proponent and design activist. Currently he helms the hybrid architectural design firm SA or Sarly Adre Sarkum Architecture Sdn. Bhd. He is the Immediate Past President of the Malaysia Green Building Confederation which is Malaysia's Green Building Council under the auspices of the World Green Building Council. He is also currently an elected council member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia. He was one of the five directors of the GBI Green Rating Tool and served as GBI Accreditation Panel as well.
