Tango in the Attic are a Scottish lo-fi, garage, pop band from Glenrothes, formed in 2008. The band consists of Daniel Craig - vocals, Jordan Craig - guitar, Jonathan MacFarlane - organ James Crook - bass and Paul Johnson - drums. [1]

History

20082010

Tango In The Attic formed in early 2008 in Glenrothes, Fife. The band's members are influenced by various artists. Using guitars, vintage organs, saxophones and random percussion, they give energetic and engaging live performances, [2] and have been described as "Vampire Weekend-esque". [3] [4]

The band played 2009's T In The Park festival's Tbreak tent, followed by a live session on Vic Galloway's BBC Radio One show. [5] [6] Their track, "Jackanory" was used on Schuh’s first television advertisement, which was broadcast throughout the UK. [7] They also released the double A-side single, "Blunderground" b/w "Be A Familiar".

Band lineup

Prior to the creation of Tango in the Attic's 2012 album Sellotape, Daniel Craig decided to leave the band citing difficulties regarding the more extensive touring which was planned for the upcoming album. [8] Rather than replace Craig the band made the decision to remain as a four-piece with Jordan taking over vocal duties.

Glenrothes Human settlement in Scotland

Glenrothes is a town situated in the heart of Fife, in east-central Scotland. It is about 30 miles (48 km) north of Edinburgh and 30 miles (48 km) south of Dundee. The town had a population of 39,277 in the 2011 census, making it the third largest settlement in Fife and the 18th most populous settlement in Scotland. The name Glenrothes comes from its historical link with the Earl of Rothes, who owned much of the land on which the new town has been built; Glen was added to the name to avoid confusion with Rothes in Moray and in recognition that the town lies in a river valley. The motto of Glenrothes is Ex terra vis, meaning "From the earth strength", which dates back to the founding of the town.

F♯ A♯ ∞ is the debut studio album by Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It was first released on August 14, 1997 through Constellation Records on vinyl and on June 8, 1998 through Kranky on CD. The CD version and the vinyl version have substantial differences between them, the CD version being considered the more definitive version, as it is more easily accessible. Recorded at the Hotel2Tango in the Mile End of Montreal, the album is devoid of traditional lyrics and is mostly instrumental, featuring lengthy songs segmented into movements. It was initially released in limited quantities, and distributed through live performances and developed a cult following via word of mouth.

Sergeant (band)

Sergeant were a four-piece indie rock band from Glenrothes in Fife, Scotland. In 2007 they signed a contract with Mercury Records and played both the T in the Park and Glastonbury festivals that year. The band received good reviews for their live shows and attracted support from Jim Gellatly of Xfm Scotland and from Alan McGee, who called the group "a major talent".

Attic Lights are a Scottish indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 2005 by Kev Sherry, Colin McArdle and Jamie Houston, later joined by Tim Davidson and Noel O'Donnell. The four-part harmonies in a number of their songs have led to critical comparisons with Teenage Fanclub and The Beach Boys. Their guitar heavy powerpop has been compared to alternative rock bands such as Weezer, R.E.M. and The Lemonheads.

Unicorn Kid Scottish electronic music composer and musician

Oliver Sabin, formerly known as Unicorn Kid, is a Scottish electronic music/chip music composer and musician from Edinburgh, educated at Leith Academy. When asked about the name of the act, Sabin stated, "There’s no real story behind the name, it just kind of came about and fitted in with the fun, magical nature of the music." Sabin has had a number of BBC Radio 1 appearances including an early live session on the Vic Galloway BBC Radio 1 show and a BBC Maida Vale Studios session for Rob da Bank. In September 2014, he announced the end of Unicorn Kid to pursue a different alias that has yet to be announced.

Craig Thomson is a Scottish footballer who plays as a right-back for Cowdenbeath. He has also played at left-back and on the right wing. Thomson started his career in the Scottish Premier League with Heart of Midlothian, but was loaned to Lithuanian club FBK Kaunas after he was convicted of indecent behaviour involving children. Thomson has also represented the Scotland under-21 team.

The Last Battle (band)

The Last Battle were a Scottish alternative indie folk band, who formed in Edinburgh in 2009 around the songs of singer/songwriter Scott Longmuir. Their name derives from a C.S Lewis novel. They released two albums, Heart of the Land, Soul of the Sea (2010) and Lay Your Burden Down (2014).

The Mirror Trap were an alternative indie rock band from Dundee, Scotland. The band consisted of Gary 'The Panther' Moore on vocals, Michael 'John' McFarlane and Paul Markie on guitars, Paul 'Drums' Reilly on drums and Ben Doherty on bass. They were sometimes joined by Scott Duffy on additional percussion and vocals.

Randolphs Leap (band)

Randolph's Leap is an eight piece indie-pop band from Glasgow, Scotland, and signed to Lost Map Records as of 2014. Founded by frontman Adam Ross in 2006, members include Ross (guitar/vocals), Adam Florence (drums), Vicki Cole (bass), Andrew MacLellan (guitar), Heather Thikey (violin), Pete MacDonald (keyboards), Ali Hendry (trumpet) and Fraser Gibson (trombone).

Cora Bissett is a Scottish theatre director, playwright, actor and musician. As a director she has created Amada, Roadkill, Grit: The Martyn Bennett Story, Glasgow Girls and Room. As an actor she had regular appearances in the television programmes Rab C. Nesbitt and High Times. She is an associate director at the National Theatre of Scotland.
