Tappeto Volante ("Flying Carpet") is the third and final album by Italian world music pioneers Aktuala. It was released on Bla Bla records in 1976. It is the second recording of percussionist Trilok Gurtu
It is a mixture of live and studio recordings, mostly recorded in Morocco after a year spent traveling and playing there. The resulting recordings were then interspersed with studio recordings featuring electronic enhancements. [1] This latter studio compositional style point to Walter Maioli's next project, Futuro Antico in which such mixtures dominated. There are shorter tracks than on the previous recordings but they have segues making a collage effect.

Trilok Gurtu is an Indian percussionist and composer whose work has blended the music of India with jazz fusion and world music.

Honky is the ninth studio album by American rock band Melvins, released in 1997 through Amphetamine Reptile Records. It is widely considered to be the band's most experimental album. Their first studio album after being dropped from Atlantic, it contains a mixture of traditional Melvins-sounding rock, experiments with drones and soundscapes, and some rather uncharacteristic electronic pieces. A video was made for "Mombius Hibachi". The final track, "In the Freaktose the Bugs are Dying", concludes with more than 25 minutes of silence. As of 2024, the album has not been added to streaming services. Whether this involves the poor reviews the album received is unknown.
Miles_Gurtu is the fourth studio album by Robert Miles, the second he independently recorded and produced. The record was released on 10 February 2004. Robert Miles and Indian jazz percussionist Trilok Gurtu met while recording Miles's last solo album, Organik, where Gurtu played percussion on three of the tracks. The result of the current collaboration is a mix of both musicians' very disparate styles. Miles_Gurtu expanded Robert Miles's "new style" started in Organik (2001), this time in a much more jazzy way.

Kai Eckhardt is a German born musician and composer who plays bass, best known for his work with John McLaughlin, Vital Information, Torsten de Winkel, Billy Cobham and Garaj Mahal—a band he co-founded. Educated at the prestigious Berklee College of Music Eckhardt has also collaborated on projects with guitarist Larry Coryell as well as keyboardist Tom Coster. Eckhardt is known for his fast chordal slap-style abilities, and for his unique combination of funk, jazz, and world music.

La Terra is the second studio album by Italian world music pioneers Aktuala. It was released on Bla Bla records in 1974. The cover features a medieval map of the world as it was known surrounded by the "world ocean". There are fewer, longer pieces than on the first record and they feature extended jams. Maioli writes that it was representative of the music played by the core group of Maioli, Cavallanti and Cerantola for two years; rehearsing and jamming in restaurants and psych wards until they got the perfect sound, and that it features the influences but not the performances of many of the other musicians who performed with them over that time. It is the first recording of master world percussionist Trilok Gurtu, who had to leave Italy shortly after the recording because of work visa expiry.

Dai primitivi all'elettronica is a recording made by Futuro Antico in 1980. It features a mixture of synthesized and ethnic music, highlighting the role intonation plays in music. This theme was featured in Tappo Volante, the last Aktuala album, which featured the mixture of ethnic sounds and studio processing. The track "Echo Raga" is featured on that recording as well.

It was recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 27 November 1989 and was released on the JMT label in 1990. The album reached number 3 in the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.

On the album, which is based on heartbeat sounds recorded by Dr. Jean-Louis Zink, Sanders and Haynes are joined by guitarist Nicky Skopelitis, keyboardist Jeff Bova, and tabla player Trilok Gurtu. The album was produced by Bill Laswell, who also plays bass, keyboards, and flute, and is Sanders' third recording to be produced by Laswell.
