Tarabulus Governorate or Tripoli Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. [1] It contained the city of Tripoli, which was also its administrative capital. [2] Tarabulus is the Arabic name for Tripoli, and was sometimes applied to the entire Tripolitania province.
The governorate's population was 379,925 in 1964 and had risen to 544,842 by 1972. [3] Although Tarabulus Governorate constituted less than 1% of the land area in Libya, more than 25% of the population lived there, with a density about five times greater than the mean of the other governorates. [4]

Benina International Airport in Benghazi serves as a secondary base. Libyan Airlines also operates Hajj services. The company is wholly owned by the government of Libya.
Tripoli is the largest city in northern Lebanon and the second-largest city in the country. Darnah Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. It was created out of the Cyrenaica province. Its capital was the town of Derna.
Jafara or Al Jfara is one of the districts of Libya, in the historical region of Tripolitania. Its capital and largest city is 'Aziziya. Jafara borders Tripoli in northeast, Jabal al Gharbi in south and Zawiya in the west.

Misrata Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. Its capital was the town of Misrata. Initially in the 1930s was called "Provincia di Misurata" of Italian Libya. It was created out of the eastern part of Tripolitania province.
Sabha Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. It was formed from part of Fezzan province. Its capital was Sabha. In 1970, it had a population of around 97,000.
Jabal al Gharbi Governorate or Jebal al Gharbi Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. Its capital was Gharian. Other important towns in the governorate were Yafran, Nalut, Ghadames and Mizda. It was created out of the southwestern part of Tripolitania province.
Az Zawiyah Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. Its capital was Zawiya. It was created out of the northwestern part of Tripolitania province.
Al Khums Governorate or Homs Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. Its capital was the town of Khoms. It was created out of the Tripolitania province.
Awbari Governorate or Ubari Governorate Arabic: أوباري محافظة was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1973. Its capital was the town of Ubari. It was created out of the southwestern part of Fezzan province. In 1973 the Awbari Governorate was merged into an altered Sabha Governorate.

The Office of the Inspector General(OTIG) serves to "provide impartial, objective and unbiased advice and oversight to the Army through relevant, timely and thorough inspection, assistance, investigations, and training." The position has existed since 1777, when Thomas Conway was appointed the first inspector. The department was reorganized many times, and almost abolished on several occasions. In its early days, the department was frequently merged with, or proposed to be part of the Adjutant General. It expanded greatly after the American Civil War, to the point that it had around 2,000 officers in 1993. The current holder of the position is Donna W. Martin.
Tripolitania province is one of the three traditional Provinces of Libya. It was a formal province from 1934 until 1963, when it was subdivided into the Governorates of Libya. Its capital was the city of Tripoli. Between 1911 and 1934 it had been the separately governed colony of Italian Tripolitania.
