Tarchumas "Tadas" Murnikas (born 1903, date of death unknown) was a Lithuanian road and track cyclist and a member of the Lithuanian Sports Club Makabi. He became national champion in 1926 and won a total of four medals at national championship. He competed in the individual road race event at the 1928 Summer Olympics. [1] He represented the Lithuanian Makabi club. [2]
Murnikas was a member of the Makabi Kowno sports club. He became at least four medals at the Lithuanian national cycling championships, including one in track cycling. After becoming vice-champion of Lithuania in the 70 km team event in 1925, he became the national champion in this discipline in 1926. That year he also won the bronze medal in the track all-around event. In 1928, he earned a silver medal in the 160 km race. In 1929, a bronze medal in the athletic 3000 metres run was won by a competitor with the same surname, but its potentially another athlete. [3]
He competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. He took part in both the individual time trial and the team time trial. In the individual competition, he placed 50th out of 63 classified cyclists, the highest position among the Lithuanians, while in the team event he was not classified. [4] [5]
