Tarpan (English title: The Absolution [1] ) was a 1994 Indian Hindi drama film written and directed by K. Bikram Singh, and starring Om Puri, Revathy, Dina Pathak, Manohar Singh and Mita Vashisht in lead roles. This directorial debut film was jointly produced by NFDC and Doordarshan. [2] The film set in the 1940s, in a fictitious village in the Shekhavati region in Rajasthan, where no girl child survives beyond the age of seven. It deals with larger issues of communalism and caste system through four inter-related stories. [2] [3]

Tamas is a 1988 period television film written and directed by Govind Nihalani. K. Bikram Singh was an Indian politician and filmmaker, most known for his documentary film, Satyajit Ray Introspections (1991) and feature film, Tarpan (1994). After a short stint as a lecturer in history, he joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1962. During his service with the Government of India, he has held many important positions, including Joint Director, of Food Corporation of India, Joint Director Planning, Joint Director of Film Festivals and Director of film Policy in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India

<i>Seepeeyan</i> Film

Seepeeyan is a 1984 Indian drama film produced and directed by Akash Jain. The film was edited by Venketesh Naik. The film revolves around a woman who plunges into a river after her boyfriend refused to marry her, but is saved by another man of inferior caste whom she marries. It stars Debashree Roy, Kanwaljit Singh and Om Puri in the leading roles. The music of the film was composed by Raghunath Seth.
