Tautumeitas is a Latvian folk/world music band formed in 2015. The band consists of six women vocalists and instrumentalists. [1] [2]

History

In 2017 Tautumeitas together with Auļi released a 13-track album Lai māsiņa rotājās! dedicated to engagements and weddings, and it draws on Baltic folk musical traditions. [3] The album received Annual Latvian Music Recording Award as the Best Folk music album of 2017. [4] Lai māsiņa rotājās! also reached position No. 26 in the 2018 World Music Charts Europe, [5] as well as No. 38 in the April 2018 and May 2018 Transglobal World Music Chart. [6] [7] In 2018 Tautumeitas released their self-titled debut album. [8]

On 2 June 2021, Tautumeitas announced on their official Instagram account that Lauma Bērza would leave the group in the summer. [2]

On 20 November 2024, it was announced that Tautumeitas was selected as a semi-finalist in Supernova 2025 with the song "Bur man laimi." The show is used to determine Latvia's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. [9]

Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Funny Girl" written and performed by Laura Rizzotto. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organized the national final Supernova 2018 in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. 21 songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of four shows: three semi-finals and a final. In the semi-finals on 3, 10 and 17 February 2018, two entries were selected to advance from each show alongside two wildcards selected by LTV. Eight songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 24 February 2018 where a public televote and a four-member jury panel selected "Funny Girl" performed by Laura Rizzotto as the winner.

<i>The Peace Project</i> (album) 2017 studio album by Hillsong Worship

The Peace Project is an album by Australian contemporary worship group Hillsong Worship and is the fifth Christmas-themed worship album from Hillsong Music, following We Have a Saviour (2012). Released on 20 October 2017 by Hillsong Music Australia and Capitol Christian Music Group, the album's production was spearheaded by Ben Tan and Michael Guy Chislett. The album was nominated for the GMA Dove Award for Christmas / Special Event Album of the Year at the 49th Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "That Night" written by Mārcis Vasiļevskis and Sabīne Žuga. The song was performed by the band Carousel. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organized the national final Supernova 2019 in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. 16 songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. In the semi-finals on 26 January and 2 February 2019, four entries were selected to advance from each show. Eight songs ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 16 February 2019 where a public televote and a five-member jury panel selected "That Night" performed by Carousel as the winner.

DAGAMBA is a Latvian band formed in 2011. The group consists of five members: cellist Valters Pūce, cellist Antons Trocjuks, pianist Dainis Tenis, double bass player Alise Broka and drummer Artūrs Jermaks. Throughout DAGAMBA's existence, they have released six albums. The group has performed in Latvia, USA, Ukraine, Lithuania, China, Poland, Italy, Russia, Australia, Estonia, Turkey, United Kingdom and other countries. Latvia originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Still Breathing" written by Samanta Tīna and Aminata Savadogo. The song was performed by Samanta Tīna. Songwriter Aminata Savadogo represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Love Injected" where she placed sixth in the grand final of the competition. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organized the national final Supernova 2020 in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Nine songs were selected to compete in the national final on 8 February 2020 where a public televote exclusively selected "Still Breathing" performed by Samanta Tīna as the winner.

Auļi is a Latvian folk/world music band formed in 2003. The band consists of 6 bagpipers, 3 drummers and 1 electric cello player. The band also uses the Jew's harp and the shawm, an ancestor of the oboe, in their music.

Sudden Lights is a Latvian indie rock band, founded in 2012 in Riga. The band consists of vocalist Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis, drummer Mārtiņš Matīss Zemītis, guitarist Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis, and bassist Kārlis Vārtiņš. In February 2023, the group won Supernova 2023 with the song "Aijā" and represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Latvia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song "Hollow", written by Artūrs Šingirejs, Kate Northrop, and Liam Geddes, and performed by Šingirejs himself under his stage name Dons. The Latvian participating broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final Supernova2024 in order to select its entry for the contest. Fifteen songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of two shows: a semi-final and a final. In the semi-final on 3 February 2024, ten entries were selected to advance to compete in the final on 10 February 2024 where a public televote and an eight-member jury panel selected "Hollow" performed by Dons as the winner.
