Tcell is one of the leading mobile network operators in Tajikistan, owned and operated by the Tajik company Indigo Tajikistan, part of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED). [1]
Tcell provides mobile telephony and mobile internet services throughout Tajikistan using GSM, UMTS, HSPA and LTE technologies. As of 2024, the network covered over 90% of the country’s population. [2]
The company was established in 2003 as Indigo Tajikistan, and in 2010 merged with the Somoncom brand to form the unified Tcell identity. [3] Tcell became fully owned by AKFED after acquiring TeliaSonera’s regional stake in 2017. [4]
According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Tcell serves approximately 3.1 million subscribers and holds a market share of around 36 % in Tajikistan’s telecommunications sector. [5]
