Tekeda Alemu (born in Addis Ababa, May 5, 1951 [1] ) is an Ethiopian diplomat to the United Nations. [2] [3] [4]

Education

Tekeda earned a B.A. and M.A. from UCLA and a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate School.

Career

Tekeda Alemu has served as a diplomat for four decades, starting in 1983. [1]

For the month of September 2017, Alemu served as the president of the United Nations Security Council. [5]

Azerbaijan has been a member in the United Nations since March 2, 1992, after the UN General Assembly admitted Azerbaijan at its 46th session. The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened in New York City in May 1992. On October 29, 1991, soon after gaining independence from the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan applied to the UN General Assembly for joining the organization. Azerbaijan was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term of 2012–2013. Through the UN, Azerbaijan has reached out to the international community, especially Europe. Tore Hattrem is a Norwegian diplomat and politician for the Conservative Party. In 2018 he was appointed as the Permanent Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the top civil servant in the ministry. He formerly served as State Secretary and as Permanent Representative of Norway to the United Nations in New York, and was President of the UNICEF Executive Board in 2018.
