Alan Rickman British actor

Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman was an English actor and director. Known for his languid tone and delivery, Rickman's signature sound was the result of a speech impediment when he could not move his lower jaw properly as a child. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), performing in modern and classical theatre productions. He played the Vicomte de Valmont in the RSC stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985, and after the production transferred to the West End in 1986 and Broadway in 1987 he was nominated for a Tony Award.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala was confirmed in Thrissur on 30 January 2020. The number of active cases initially peaked at 266 on 6 April before declining. For the first time in over 45 days, there were no new cases on 1 May. However, following the return of Keralites from other countries and states, more cases were reported in mid-May, with the biggest single-day spike on 25 July. As of 26 July, there have been 19,025 confirmed cases with 9302 (44.5%) recoveries and 61 deaths in the state. Kerala has one of the lowest mortality rate in India (0.3%) compared to the national average of 2.41%. Kerala's success in containing COVID-19 has been widely praised both nationally and internationally.
