The European Dressage Championships are the European championships for the equestrian discipline of dressage. They are held every two years in odd-numbered years. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in both individual and team competitions. There are also championships held for juniors, young riders, and ponies. Since 2015, the competition has shared a site and branding with vaulting, reining, jumping, and driving events. For sponsorship reasons, eventing is not included, as it is part of the FEI European Championships, echoing the combined World Equestrian Games concept. The first official combined event took place in Aachen in 2015.
Yvonne Losos de Muñiz is an Olympic athlete and international Grand Prix dressage rider. Born in Nigeria to Canadian parents, she represents the Dominican Republic internationally. She belongs to the elite Dominican Olympic athlete program CRESO.
Nicole Uphoff is a German equestrian who competes in the sport of dressage. She won four gold medals in individual and team competition at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. Riding her star horse, Rembrandt, Uphoff also won numerous other international competitions, including the World Equestrian Games and the European Dressage Championships.
Adelinde Cornelissen is a Dutch dressage rider.
Edward Gal is a Dutch dressage rider. He and the stallion Totilas, were triple gold medalists at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, becoming the first horse-rider partnership ever to sweep the three available dressage gold medals at a single FEI World Games. Going into the 2010 Games, they had amassed multiple world-record scores in international competition, leading one American journalist to call them "rock stars in the horse world". After the World Equestrian Games, Totilas was sold to German trainer Paul Schockemöhle. Gal continues to be successful training and competing dressage horses at the international level. Despite the success, he has been criticised to be harsh trainer who creates stressed and fearful horses.

Gestion Bonfire, or Bonfire for short, was an Oldenburg gelding that competed in dressage with Dutch rider Anky van Grunsven. Between 1991 and 2000, the pair competed in multiple national and international championships, including three Olympic Games and two World Equestrian Games. They won one gold medal and four silver medals at the Olympics and one gold and three silvers at the World Equestrian Games. Although known for having a hot temperament, Bonfire mellowed as he aged, becoming one of Van Grunsven's best horses – until she found his replacement, Salinero, she did not think she would ever find a horse to match Bonfire's talent. A statue of Bonfire stands in Van Grunsven's home town of Erp.
Michèle George is a Paralympic equestrian of Belgium. She won seven gold and one silver medal at the Paralympic Games.
Sophie Wells is an English para-equestrian who won three medals at the 2012 London Paralympics, three at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, two at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and two at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Diederik van Silfhout is a Dutch Olympic dressage rider. Representing the Netherlands, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics where he placed 4th in the team and 11th in the individual competitions.
Yessin Rahmouni is an Olympic dressage rider. Born in the Netherlands, he represents Morocco internationally. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished 49th in the individual competition, making him the first dressage rider at the Olympics from the African continent. He also represented Morocco at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, finishing 44th in the individual competition.
Claudia Fassaert is a Belgian Olympic dressage rider. Representing Belgium, she competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she finished 27th in the individual competition.
Morgan Barbançon Mestre is a French and Spanish Olympic dressage rider. Representing Spain, she competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she finished 7th in team competition and 23rd in the individual competition.
Laura Graves is an American dressage rider. She represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she won a bronze medal in the team dressage competition. After winning double silver medals at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC, Laura became the first American dressage rider to be ranked No. 1 in FEI World rankings, aboard her longtime partner Verdades.
Emmelie Scholtens is a Dutch dressage rider. She competed at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam where she won the silver medal with the Dutch team. She also won several medals at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. In 2019 she competed at the World Cup finals in Goteborg, Sweden with Apache.
Charlotte Fry is an Olympic, European Championships and World Championships medal-winning British dressage rider. As of August 2024, Fry has a total of 90 victories and is currently third in the FEI World Dressage Ranking.
Simone Pearce is an Australian equestrian athlete. She competed at several World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and holds currently the Australian dressage records in the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle. Pearce represented Australia at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she finished 36th in the individual competition with Destano. She also represented the Australian team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, finishing 10th with the Australian team.
Dinja van Liere is a Dutch dressage rider. She competed at the European Dressage Championships in Hagen 2021 and was the traveling reserve for the Dutch team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Frederic Wandres is a German dressage rider. He competed at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning, where he won a Bronze team medal with the German team. Wandres competed at several World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in which he won a gold medal in 2019. He was also on the longlist for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo for the German team.
Marieke van der Putten is a Dutch dressage rider. She competed at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning, where she placed 31st in the individual dressage competition, and 5th with the Dutch team. In 2023 Van der Putten competed in the World Cup Finals in Omaha, Nebraska, finishing 8th in the Grand Prix. Van der Putten competed at several World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and World Cup qualifiers.
