The Arleng Daily is a Karbi daily newspaper published from Diphu, Assam. It has its beginning in June 2004. Initially its publication was distributed for free in and around Diphu, (mostly in Diphu Government College). As of 2008, it was one of the only two Karbi language dailies in Karbi Anglong district, [1]

History

The Arleng Daily is the first daily newspaper to be published in Karbi language in modern-day (after India Independence) and second after the now closed 'Birta' (1903), after a gap of 101 year. The Arleng Daily is notable for starting a new trend in newspaper publishing in Karbi Anglong (in different languages). This step was soon followed by Thekar and others. Since then there has been dozen of newspaper that came to public attention.

Karbi Youth Festival is an annual festival celebrated by the Karbi People living in East and West Karbi Anglong district and other districts in the Northeast Indian state of Assam, with occasional participation from other tribes and states of Northeastern India. It is considered the oldest ethnic festival in India. It is organised by Karbi Cultural Society (KCS). It is locally known as "Karbi Riso-Nimso Rong Aje".

The East Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Assam state of India. It is situated 35 km from the city of Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. It covers an area of 221.81 km², and its elevation varies between 80 and 500 meter above sea level.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is an autonomous district council in the state of Assam, India for development and protection of tribals living in area namely Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district. The council is constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India and administratively functions under the Government of Assam. It was formed with the name Karbi Anglong District Council on 17 November 1951. Later changed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on 23 June 1952, which is now celebrated as its foundation day. After Signing of M.O.U. between Government of India, Government of Assam and United People's Democratic Solidarity, it was renamed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council. It has administrative functions over two district, Karbi Anglong district and West Karbi Anglong district. Its headquarters is in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. The total area of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is 10,434 sq. km having a population of 961,275 as of 2011.

Dhaneswar Engti is a poet-author from the Indian State of Assam promoting the use of the endangered Karbi language spoken by the Karbi people of Northeastern India. Engti has authored 19 books and written around 100 songs in the Karbi language. He has also served as the Joint Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. In the year 2022, Govt. of India conferred on him the Padma Shri award for his work towards the preservation and advancement of indigenous languages.

KASA Stadium or Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium at Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam, India. It is used mainly for football and athletic games. The stadium has capacity of 9000 spectators. The inaugural friendly football match was held here between the reigning champions of Assam State Premier League and home team, Karbi Anglong Morning Star Football Club and the Asaduzzaman FC, Bangladesh.
