The Troubles were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it is sometimes described as an "irregular war" or "low-level war". The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England and mainland Europe.

Ty Taylor is an American musician best known for being the lead singer of Los Angeles soul rock band Vintage Trouble. He is the voice of character Lester Grimes on the HBO series Vinyl created by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. Taylor has two songs, "Cha Cha Twist" and "The World Is Yours," featured on the 2016 soundtrack album Vinyl: Music from the HBO Original Series, Volume 1. Michael Willetts, GC was one of the first British soldiers to be killed during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, and the recipient of a posthumous George Cross for his heroism in saving lives during the Provisional Irish Republican Army bombing which claimed his own. The Harvey Andrews song "Soldier" commemorates Willetts.

Vintage Trouble is an American rhythm & blues band. The band formed in Hollywood, California, in 2010. They have released four albums: The Bomb Shelter Sessions (2011), The Swing House Acoustic Sessions (2014), 1 Hopeful Rd. (2015) and Juke Joint Gems (2021). Their sound has been described as "retro", reminiscent of a number of late 1950s and 1960s blues and rock artists, such as The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry and The Animals. One of their more well known songs called "Today is Pretty Great" was featured in a Honda Civic commercial with the artists seen at the very beginning for a few seconds.

Nalle Colt is a Swedish guitarist and resident studio musician, best known as the lead guitarist in the Los Angeles based rhythm & blues band, Vintage Trouble. Colt was born in Malmö, Sweden. As a child, he was a skateboarding prodigy, competing on a professional level. After an injury left him bed-ridden, he learned to play guitar at the age of 13. Colt cites his early musical influences as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin.
The Kindness Diaries is a documentary television series on Discovery+. The series stars former broker Leon Logothetis and debuted in 2017. In a Facebook Live, Leon announced the show would be renewed for a third season. In the series, Logothetis travels around the world relying only on the kindness of strangers for food, shelter, and gas. In the first season, he uses a vintage Chang Jiang motorcycle and sidecar he calls Kindness 1, after The Motorcycle Diaries, which served as an inspiration for his journey. In season 2, he uses a vintage Volkswagen Beetle convertible, which he names Kindness 2. His journey in season 2 moves from Alaska to Argentina. The series also airs on BYUtv. As of June 2021 the series has begun streaming on Discovery+.
On 16 March 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces bombed the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre in Mariupol, Ukraine. It was used as an air raid shelter during the siege of Mariupol, sheltering a large number of civilians. Estimates of civilian deaths vary, ranging from at least a dozen to 600.
On 20 March 2022, Russian Armed Forces bombed Art School No. 12 in Mariupol, where hundreds of people were taking shelter during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
