The Brilliance is an American music duo made up of David Gungor and John Arndt.

History

David Gungor and John Arndt grew up together in Marshfield, Wisconsin. [1] They formed the band together in 2010. Gungor previously led worship services in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Arndt worked in Austin, Texas. [2] The two moved to New York City and Chicago. [2] David Gungor is the brother of Michael Gungor. [2]

The duo released a self-titled album, The Brilliance, on October 19, 2010. [3] They quickly followed it up with Advent, Vol. 1, on November 28, 2011. [4] In 2012, the duo released several albums. They released Lent, on February 29, [5] Advent, Vol. 2 on November 12, [6] Cavetime – A Worship Experience, on November 23, [7] and a live album titled The Road Recordings. [8] Subsequently, they made two more extended plays. They released Advent B Sides EP on December 2, 2013, [9] and the For Our Children EP, on December 2, 2014. [10]

The duo signed with Integrity Music, which released Brother, the duo's first studio album, on February 17, 2015. [11] The album charted on the Billboard Christian Albums chart at number 36. [12] On January 27, 2017, Integrity Music released All is Not Lost. The album peaked at number 20 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart and number 12 on Billboard's Heatseeker's chart on February 18, 2017. [13]

The Brilliance partnered with World Relief in their initiative to raise awareness for the DACA dreamers, which led to the first album in a series of "Suites", a set of songs and pieces united by a theme. The Dreamer Suite was featured on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist.[ citation needed ]

Following the success of "Oh Dreamer," Gungor and Arndt set out to write a new suite and called it "World Keeps Spinning," which they released at the beginning of 2020, and which features the Biola University orchestra and chorale. [14]

On January 9, 2020, The Brilliance performed a Paste session in New York City, [15] setting a record of having the most performers in Paste's tape room.

On May 15, 2020, The Brilliance released a music video in support of their single, "Telephone," [16] that was dedicated to health care workers in the midst of the pandemic, and that was featured on YouTube's Video HotList at #5.[ citation needed ]

In 2022 & 2023, the band performed at the Christian music festival Big Church Festival. [17]

The songs "God Our Mother" and "A Light" were also featured on both the God Our Mother [18] and A Light [19] albums by The Liturgists.

Carrollton was an American contemporary Christian music band from Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky, United States. They formed in 2008, as Mosteller. Their current members are bass guitarist/background vocalist Jordan Bailey, drummer/background vocalist Michael Loy, lead vocalist/guitarist Stephen Moore, and lead guitarist/background vocalist David Terry. Fusebox was an American contemporary Christian music band from Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee. They were formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2006. The frontman of the band was Billy Buchanan. They released, Lost in Worship, with Inpop Records and Elevate Records, in 2002. Through the same label, they released Once Again in 2004, and saw the single, "Once Again", placed on the Billboard Christian Songs chart.

StompTown Revival, also known as STR, are an American Christian music duo from Nashville, Tennessee, and they started making music together in 2012. The first extended play, StompTown Revival, was released in 2012 by Save the City Music. This EP charted on two Billboard magazine charts.

The band was formed in 2001 as a side project to The Operation, an alternative band active from 1999 to 2001 that shared most of its members with mewithoutYou. The debut demo EP by mewithoutYou, Blood Enough For Us All, was released in 2000, the year before the band was officially founded. The first undisputed release by the band was I Never Said That I Was Brave which was released on Kickstart Audio in 2001.
