Brooker Group Public Company Limited is a Thailand-based listed company. The Company is primarily engaged in business and financial consulting services, investments and lending money. Its segments include Business Consulting, Investments and Digital Assets. [1]

History

The Brooker Group was founded in 1994 by Chan Bulakul of the Bulakul family in Thailand. In the late 1990s, it focused on restructuring and distressed assets advisory and investments across Southeast Asia as a result of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, advising family owned businesses across Southeast Asia on how to navigate through the crisis. [3] As a result, the majority of its clients today are HNWIs (High Net-Worth Individuals) who invest in alternative assets globally. [4]

The Company later became the first Southeast Asian entity to be listed on the MAI (Market for Alternative Investments) exchange in 2001 and developed a reputation as an expert in alternative assets. [5]

In 2016, The Brooker Group was named on Forbes' "Asia's Best Under a Billion" list. [6]

The Brooker Group's founder started the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) Chapter for Thailand. [7]

Digital Assets

In 2020, The Brooker Group established its digital assets division and became the first publicly listed company in Southeast Asia approved by regulating authorities to invest in non-listed digital assets. [8] [9] [10]

In 2022, The Brooker Group invested US$10 million into Binance Labs Investment Fund, the investment arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, becoming one of three members of the limited partner's advisory boards for family offices. [11] [12] [13]

The Brooker Group launched BrookNFT on Binance's NFT marketplace in March 2022 and became the creator with the largest trading by value for the month of March. [14]

An Initial exchange offering (IEO) is the cryptocurrency exchange equivalent to a stock launch or Initial public offering (IPO). An IEO is the process of digital asset procurement through an established exchange for the purpose of raising capital for start-up companies. Exchanges act as a middleman between investors and the startup, profiting from fees generated by services rendered during the due diligence process and funding phase. IEO's and initial coin offerings (ICO) share similar characteristics with, however, an IEO can be seen as an evolution from the ICO due to legal influence and an increase in financial regulations within the cryptocurrency market.

Bitkub is a Thailand-based cryptocurrency exchange, operated by Bitkub Online Co., Ltd. under its parent group Bitkub Capital Group Holdings. It was founded in 2018 by Jirayut Srupsrisopa, and was among the first exchanges to receive a digital asset license from the country's Securities and Exchange Commission, in 2019. It claims to be the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the country, with a share of 90% of crypto transactions based on 2021 data from regulated exchanges. In November 2021, SCB announced that it would acquire a 51-percent stake in the company for 17.85 billion baht, valuing the company at over $1 billion and making it one of Thailand's first unicorn start-up companies. However, on 25th August 2022, the deal was cancelled. The SCB stated that the reason for cancellation was due to Bitkub's ongoing lawsuit with Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission for the alleged involvement in wash and inside trading.

Independent Reserve is an Australian-based digital currency exchange founded in 2013. They are an order book exchange and an OTC desk.

MoonPay is a multinational financial technology company involved in the transfer of cryptocurrency. Founded by Ivan Soto-Wright and Victor Faramond in 2019, the company is based in Miami and provides payment infrastructure for cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to be bought and sold with fiat currencies.

Gate.io is a Cayman Islands-based cryptocurrency exchange and blockchain platform established in 2013. According to Bloomberg and Reuters it is ranked among the top most worldwide for the trading volume.
